HOW HAVE YOU LOVED US?

Malachi 1:6-14

V6 “A son honors his father, and a servant his master.

But if I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a

master, where is your fear of Me? says Yahweh of Hosts to you priests, who despise My

name.”Yet you ask: “How have we

despised Your name?”

Malachi 1:6-14

7 “By presenting defiled food on My altar.”

You ask: “How have we defiled You?”

When you say: “The Lord’s table is contemptible.”

8 “When you present a blind animal for sacrifice, is it not

wrong? And when you present a lame or sick

animal, is it not wrong? Bring it to your governor! Would he be pleased with you or show you favor?” asks the

LORD of Hosts.

9 “And now ask for God’s favor. Will He be gracious to us? Since this has come from your hands, will He show any of you favor? asks the LORD

of Hosts.10 “I wish one of you would shut the temple doors, so

you would no longer kindle useless fire on my altar!

I am not pleased with you,” says the LORD of Hosts, “and I will accept

no offering from your hands.

11 “For My name will be great among the nations,

from the rising of the sun to its setting. Incense and pure offerings will be presented in

My name in every place because My name will be great among the nations,”

says Yahweh of Hosts.

12 But you are profaning it when you say: “The Lord’s

table is defiled, and its product, its food, is

contemptible.” 13 You also say: “Look, what a

nuisance!” “And you scorn it,” says the LORD of Hosts. “You bring stolen, lame or sick animals. You bring this

as an offering! Am I to accept that from your

hands?” asks the LORD.

14 “The deceiver is cursed who has an acceptable male in his flock and makes a vow

but sacrifices a defective animal to the Lord. For I am a great King,” says Yahweh of Hosts, “and My name will

be feared among the nations.

EVERYTHING RISES OR FALLS WITH LEADERS

When God has an issue with Israel, He takes its leaders into account.


When God seeks to effect change, oftentimes in history and Scripture, He begins by

selecting out the leaders and speaking to them.


LUKE 6:40A disciple is not above his

teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his

teacher.


Whoever you decide to follow, you will become

like him or her.


Much of leadership is caught, not taught;

it is through observing and modeling.

WHERE IS MY HONOR?

Malachi 1:6

God has a question:“Where is My honor?”

YOU’VE FORGOTTEN WHO I AM?

“Father” reveals to us His affection for

us

“Master” reveals His authority over us

FATHER AND MASTER


He says,“You have forgotten who I

am.”

“Where is My fear?Where is My honor?”

FATHER AND MASTER


GOD IS TO BE:- Feared- Respected- Revered- Honored with our life, our

wealth, our deeds, and our days.

WHERE IS MY FEAR?


- Submit to

- Obey- Follow- Cherish

WHERE IS MY HONOR?- Respect

- Esteem- Value

- Defer to- Elevate

WHERE IS MY HONOR?

IS YOUR LIFE HONORING GOD?In this book, they keep

arguing with God. He asks a question, they ask two more.

WHERE IS MY HONOR?

IS YOUR LIFE HONORING GOD?It doesn’t matter what you

say or think. If God looked at your life,

would he say, “You are honoring Me,” or “You are dishonoring Me?”

THREE WAYS WE ARE TO HONOR GOD

1. HE WANTS YOUR HEART, NOT YOUR

MONEY


HERE’S THE ISSUE:

God doesn’t want your money. God wants your

heart, and your heart is an indication of your money.


JESUS SAYS:

“Where your treasure is, there your heart is.”

Matthew 6:21


2. ROTTEN FOOD, LAME OFFERINGSGod’s saying, “You’re

conducting your affairs with me in a way you don’t

conduct your affairs with other. You’re taking

advantage of my kindness, and that’s not right.”


“You would never give these things to people you love.

Why do you think I’m excited about them?”


3. NOT CHEAP, EVILGod said, “Is that not evil?”

THE WIDOW’S GENEROSITY

LUKE 21:1-4He looked up and saw the rich dropping their offerings into the temple treasury. He also saw a

poor widow dropping in two tiny coins. “I tell you the truth,” He

said. “This poor widow has put in more than all of them. For all

these people have put it gifts out of their surplus, but she out of

her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”


It’s not about how much you give, but it’s about how

much you give out of what you have.


What’s happening in Malachi 1?

God puts resources in the hand of the leader, and then the leader clenches their fist rather than share, they don’t

have the Father’s heart.

JUDAS DID?


THE STORY OF JUDAS:He didn’t give generously.

He stole continuously.He saved up all

his money so he could go buy a rope and hang himself.


Sometimes giving keeps you from buying a rope.

It keeps you from spending money on things that are

going to kill you.


4. JESUS WAS NOT A LAME SACRIFICE, SO WHY WOULD

YOU THINK THAT JESUS WANTS A LAME SACRIFICE?


John 3:16For God so loved the world in

this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that

everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have

eternal life.


The Old Testament sacrificial system was to foreshadow the coming of Jesus. You

bring a sacrifice without spot or blemish.

The relationship is in trouble when God says:

“I love you; there’s nothing about you that I enjoy.”

That’s like doing church and the people say “We like it.”

But God says, “I don’t.”

The temple was the center of worship and witness for the entire Old Covenant.

The Temple is God’s visible dwelling place on earth.

God says, “I gave you a nice animal for a sacrifice, and you gave me the

motions- Became hardhearted

- Got sick of it- Hit his or her lid

- People are a burden


EXAMPLE:

Planting a Churchis like delivering a new

baby.


The first temple was destroyed and then the second temple

was built.that generation worked hard to make it happen but then their kids and grandkids are sick of

it.They don’t have any idea of

legacy or sustainability.

WEARINESS FROM MINISTRY

WEARINESS FROM MINISTRY:

You’re going to be tired and exhausted


Ministry is more like parenting.

Somebody gets saved - it’s like a baby being born.

Now you’ve got to love them, were them, and grow with

them, and look after them for the rest of your life, and

that’s going to be exhausting and wonderful because you

get to see life.


Pour your life out growing weary from

ministry.


WE HONOR HIM BECAUSE HE’S A GREAT KING
