Conclusions, so far

• The vast majority of these students from Queens went to public high school, particularly Jamaica HS, Flushing HS, and Bryant HS• There aren’t a particularly large number of Jewish

last names in this group of students

Some possible next steps

• Some of the transcripts I found had the student’s father/guardian’s name• I can look for the family in a directory and find the

father’s occupation• What social class were these students from?

• I might want to spend more time looking at how the students got to Barnard from Queens (subway, LIRR, etc.)
