Our school council for the 2017 - 2018 school year were elected by their class mates at the end of September. They are: Maggie Wood (Y6), Jack Dalton (Y6), Josie Brown (Y5), Ellie Lancaster (Y5), Archie Regan (Y4), Ashton Small (Y4), Isla Falloon (Y3), Kyra Peall (Y3), Freddie Forster (Y2) and Tianna Brown (Y2). Their job during the coming school year is two-fold, to make our school a better place for the children at Ormesby Primary and to co-ordinate charity fundraising events. To this end, the School Council supported Mrs Spence in organising a Macmillan Afternoon Tea Party on Thursday 5th October. They baked cakes and helped to serve cakes and tea/coffee at the event. Thanks to your generosity, we raised £420 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Thank you to everyone who helped! MAKING A DIFFERENCE SPINE TINGLING SINGING On Wednesday 18th October our school choir took part in a singing festival held at St. Nicholas’ Church in Guisborough. Other schools taking part included Zetland Primary and Lakes Primary from Redcar and Mill Lane Primary from Stockton. It was a fabulous feast of music performed in a beautiful building. Our school choir were wonderful, singing ‘Everglow’ by Coldplay and the much loved hymn, ‘Be Still For The Presence Of The Lord’. Our thanks go to the amazing school choir and their musical director, Mrs Taylor. Bravo! Our Year 2 children visited Beamish Museum to support their history topic this month. They have been learning about how much houses and household items have changed since Victorian times. During their time at Beamish, the children experienced what it was like to live during Victorian times. They even went to school and were taught by a Victorian school teacher, who was super strict! On Wednesday 18th October our school choir took

HISTORY COMES TO LIFE

The children in Year 3 have been learning about

what it was like to live in Britain during the Second

World War. To support their learning they visited

Ormesby Hall. They were all evacuated to the

Pennyman House. Whilst there they learnt how to

make do and mend: sewing on buttons, darning

socks, knitting and balling wool from old jumpers.

They learnt all about rationing and found out about

the job of an Air Raid Warden, hiding in the

shelter during an air raid!
