How / What We Did?
• Continued last years recycling project• Educated our school community• Started our goals• ECO-Club• Ordered and sold water bottles
Goals
• Water Bottles• No more paper cups• No more plastic cups in Cantina• Reusable Cups• Elimination of plastic water bottles being sold in
Cantina• Decrease Straw use
Last & This Years Accomplishments
• ECO- Club• Paper & Plastic Committee• Earth Week (each year)• Straw-less• Reusable Cups & Plates- NHS & PTO Events• Cantina=Reusable Cups
Essential Question
How can we make a
better school campus by
decreasing plastic & paper use?
PAPER
Paper• What is a carbon footprint?
• What is global warming?
• How do the two relate?
• Why should we reduce our carbon footprints?
• How have we reduced our carbon footprint since last year?
What is Carbon Foot Print?
Measure of CO2
Bigger C.F.= increased CO2
Greenhouse effect
What Is Global Warming?
How Do The Two Relate?
Why Reduce it?
• Environmental changes: Melting of ice caps = rise of sea level Planet getting warmer Extinction of ecosystem
• Global Warming: Alteration of the Ozone Layer
How have we reduced CIPLC’s Carbon Footprint ?
How Does Paper Fit Into the Equation?
Consumption up 400% in last 40 years.
35% of total trees cut used in papermaking.
