RECYCLING IN THE HOLME VALLEYWhere can I recycle my rubbish? There are many opportunities for Holme Valley residents to recycle their wastes and rubbish. Kirklees Council run a fortnightly collection service for each household, providing a large Green Bin to collect dry recyclables. (See last page for what can and cannot be put in this bin)
In addition there are three Kirklees Council Household Waste Recycling Centres [HWRCs] where residents can take their own wastes for recycling:
Also, there are a number of supermarkets and other organisations which are willing to take household wastes for recycling e.g. sites with Bring-Bank containers.
This Directory provides details of what wastes can be recycled where, particularly for those wastes the Council will not accept in their Green Bin collection service.
The Directory also has information on websites whereresidents can update this information, including updates of this directory athott.org.uk/hott-recycling/

Before recycling an item:
Remove excess paper/cardboard etc. and recycle into your Green binRemove excess non-recycled plastics and dispose in your Black BinWash out any food waste or container contents
This is a ‘live’ list of disposal and collection sites for recycling wastes from the Holme Valley – things may have changed since this directory was updated in February 2019.
If you find any errors or changes, please let us know by emailing us at [email protected]. Thanks
Local residents can bring their wastes to these household waste recycling centres for the Council to recycle. These sites are run by Suez Environment, the Kirklees Council’s Waste Management contractor.
Terracycle is an innovative recycling company that recycles typically ‘hard-to-recycle’ waste. They sometimes provide box containers for collecting the chosen recyclates. When full, these boxes can be posted back to Terracycle for recycling. The Terracycle collection points are often sited in community centres, schools and commercial offices.
Local residents can bring these wastes and drop them off. See directory table for the particular wastes collected by each hub. Any income from wastes recycled is used to support charities or community organisations.
