Crèche Corner
We have been having a wonderful time in
the crèche these past few weeks!
Starting with our Australian Animal
window display and kids have had the
chance to create their very own pet rocks
to take home.
We will have plenty of awesome activities
happing in the crèche over the upcoming
months, so make sure you keep an eye

TERM PROGRAMS ...
Tambrey Pavilion is now open ...
The Tambrey Pavilion was opened in November 2016 by Major Peter Long. The
building was a much anticipated addition to facilities within the City of Karratha
and more specifically users of the Tambrey Oval, as previously the oval had no
adjoin change rooms or facilities to use.
The Tambrey Pavilion will not only provide sporting and community groups at
the western end of town a permanent facility to hire, but is also available to the
whole City of Karratha community to hire on a casual basis, pending availability.
Currently permanent hirers include a boxing club for adults & juniors, as well as
a dance school. We expect that more permanent hirers will come on board as
the year progresses.
Community Users can hire the pavilion for $32.00 per hour. For further infor-
mation regarding availability or to obtain a Casual Venue Hire Application Form,

Term 1 kid’s programs commence the week starting Monday 13th February with
a range of option as set out in the table below.
This term we are trialing some Saturday morning programs for parents who
work during the week, as well as some favorites Monday through Thursday. Kids
Triathlon was started last year & we’ll continue it again, with some training
leading into a mini-tri at the end of the term. Valentine’s Day sees the start of
the First Aid Club which is perfect in case there’s any disagreements at home on
the quality of gifts that night :) If it’s movement or sport you’re after, then check
out Megasports & Zumba!!
Are you suffering from portion distortion?
Before you answer “yes, I think I eat too much” let me clarify that there are 2 different versions of portion distortion.
Eating too much:
This is when you’re just eating more than your body naturally needs. This one happens most often with people who are
NOT eating healthy nourishing foods for their bodies. They order a pizza and have 3-4 slices instead of a reasonable 1-2.
They treat themselves to some birthday cake and have 2-3 pieces before they even realize it or they order a fancy steak at
a restaurant and consume 400g in just one sitting
Not eating enough
This version of portion distortion is seen most often in people who wrongly believe that they have to consume bird size
portions in order to lose weight. This is especially common among women when they decide to embark on a healthy eating plan. Wanting to see
immediate & quick fat loss results, so you bring your portions down so low, your metabolism eventually comes to a screaming halt! Leaving you hungry,
cranky & frustrated that you’re not losing weight
Regardless of which one you may be suffering from, it’s important that you get your portions under control so you can see steady & consistent fat loss &
keep it off long term. Here is a short guide of typical healthy foods you can use to create each one of your healthy meals.
PROTEIN * Eggs—2 whole * Poultry—130grams * Lean beef or bison—130grams * Wild Fish—130grams
CARBS * Sweet potato—130grams cooked * Quinoa—1/2cup cooked * Apple or banana—1 medium * Oatmeal—1cup cooked
FATS * Nut butter (almond, walnut or cashews) - 1 Tbsp. * Olive oil or avocado oil—1tsp. * Whole nuts—30grams
THE SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM WRAP-UP …
The December/January program has provided over 100 hours of sports, craft, movies, mini-golf,
swimming, water fights and general entertainment. The kids in attendance have been fantastic,
engaged in all activities and very well behaved, but you are welcome to have them back now.
This holiday we tried a different rostering of programs to try to ensure a consistent delivery of service
and it was pleasing that we didn't have to cancel a single program after Christmas and families had a
daily option to attend.
A massive thank you to our Program Assistants who deliver a great product, as well as being able to change things up if an activity has
redlined on the boredom meter! And if all else fails, they simply loved throwing dodgeballs at Kodee.
JUNIOR

SENIOR
Nominations are now open for our established Indoor Mixed Futsal
competition on Tuesday nights, emphasis on MIXED!
Also we have another season of Junior Futsal on Monday’s which can be
boys and girls. We will endeavor to have two age-related divisions running.
Tuesday mornings have a social netball feel about tem. f you have a team
you’d like to enter or would like to join a team, please submit the relevant
nomination form.

PILBARA SPORTS ACADEMY In an exciting announcement the Pilbara Sports Academy, of which
the KLP is a key stakeholder, looks set to have secured funding for
another 4 years. The new entity is trusted to develop local talent in
regards to junior athletes, coaches and administration.
After hosting a successful workshop in November, this year will see
further opportunities extended to sports entities within the Pilbara,
with the PSA working closely with a number of State Sports

LAUNCHING THE NEW AQUARUN … 18th FEBURARY!!
WOW check out our brand new North-End (deep-end) “Climb and Slide” Aquarun! It is 19 meters long and finishes off with a
2 metre high slip and slide!! It’s not only BIGGER & BETTER but it is SO MUCH FUN!!
The maiden voyage of the New Aquarun is set to take place on Saturday 18th February, 11.00am—3.00pm & everyone is
invited! So come on down to KLP, as there will be FREE access to the Aquarun with any casual/membership swims purchased.
Aquarun birthday parties are available on Weekends only and spots are filling up fast! To avoid any disappointment grab an
Aquarun application form from reception & remember that all applications need to submitted with a minimum of 7-days notice.
