What You Need to Know
about Maintaining Winter
Green Couch

Installing winter green couch grass
in your commercial property is an
effective way to make your shop or
establishment look more pleasing
to the eyes.
As you may know, the colour green
has a calming effect and seeing
this colour makes many people feel
more relaxed and refreshed.
By surrounding your commercial
property with greenery, you can
make your customers feel more at
ease whenever they visit your
shop.
Meanwhile, one of the things that
many commercial property owners
like about this particular type of
grass is that it is durable.
In fact, wintergreen couch is touted
by many turf growers as the best
all-around lawn. It has a dense
texture, making it more resistant to
wear and weed invasion.
And unlike other species of grass,
it can maintain its vibrant mid-
green colour all throughout the
year. It won't turn purple under cold
temperatures. It has very high
tolerance to drought, too.
When it comes to maintaining
winter green couch, take note that
this type of grass thrives under
direct sunlight. If you plant it in a
shaded area, it will become very
thin.
It may not even grow properly. For
best results, therefore, make sure
you plant this type of grass where it
can receive lots of sunshine.
Also, wintergreen couch is mostly
suited for commercial use so it isn't
probably a good idea to use this
type of grass in your home.
As mentioned earlier, this type of
grass is drought-resistant. This
basically means that it doesn't
require too much water to survive.
Of course, you still need to water
your lawn regularly. Otherwise, it
will dry out and affect the overall
appearance of your shop or
business establishment.
During summer months, turf
growers recommend watering your
lawn about three times a week.
When it is autumn and spring,
watering your turf about two times
a week will do.
When it comes to mowing, no more
than 30% to 40% of the winter
green couch should be trimmed.
Avoid cutting the leaves too short
to prevent your turf from becoming
more susceptible to damage and
diseases.
In summer, your lawn should be
mowed every seven to ten days.
During autumn and winter, on the
other hand, it should be trimmed
every two to five weeks or only if
necessary.
While it is true that this type of
grass has excellent colour
retention, it doesn't necessarily
mean that you should just leave it
alone.
Winter green couch needs
nutrients, too, for it to remain lush
and vibrant. To help the grass
maintain its colour during winter,
you should fertilise it in autumn.
When spring comes, you should
fertilise the grass again to keep it
healthy and free from diseases.
