Zaher Haddad, Imane A. Saroit, Sanaa Taha and Mahmoud won Best Paper Award of the Mobile and Wireless Networks Track for their paper titled “Secure and Efficient Uniform handover scheme for LTE-A Networks.” Haddad is a former student of Mahmoud’s and worked with him in the lab as a visiting scholar for more than six months; Saroit serves as the Dean of Computer Science at Cairo University; and Taha was a colleague of Mahmoud’s at his alma mater, University of Waterloo. Papers were pre-selected based on reviewer scores and then evaluated by a committee consisting of Track Chairs and other senior colleagues. The typical acceptance ratio for papers in this competition is about one-third and only one paper is selected for each of the four tracks. “Writing the paper took more than a year and this award has shed the light on my research, increasing the visibility of my lab’s research activities in the relevant research society,” Mahmoud said. A conference banquet was held in Doha, Qatar, to honor the winners.
