Page 2: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

Poverty isn’t just a slide show.

It’s reality

40% of the world population lives on less than $1 a day.

Page 4: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

a type of hunger that lasts over a long period of time.

CHRONIC HUNGER:

This causes weak metabolism, and higher chance of death.

Page 5: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

Think about this….

22,000 people die each day because of

poverty

Page 6: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

THAT

About 916 per hour.

And almost 15 per minute…

All taken by poverty

Children in poverty don’t have the same opportunities as us. For example:

Page 9: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

about a billion people can’t even sign their name.

While you “FORGET” to do your essay…

In the 21st century!

Page 10: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

In developing countries, 2.6 BILLION people

lack basic sanitation and life necessities.

Page 11: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

We walk less than 20 steps to the sink for water that’s

clean.

Page 12: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

Women in Africa walk 2 ½ miles a day to

get water.

And most of the time, it’s not even clean.

Page 13: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

According to the World Health Organization,

there are 250 million cases of water related diseases.

Page 14: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

WATER RELATED SICKNESSES:-cholera-diarrhea-stomach flu

Medication is expensive.

Most can’t afford it.

So, if a person living in poverty has a treatable illness, they will most likely die.

Page 15: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

They need food. They need water. They need help.

Page 16: Mahal m., kaya c., poverty per. 5

Children in poverty don’t have a

future…

But YOU can change that!!!
