This Wednesday, August 14 th , our meeting will start early at 3:00pm at the senior center in town. Following the meeting will be an Ice Cream Social and fun game for members. We hope you rsvp’d to save your spot this Wednesday. We suggest members “carpool” as parking is limited at the senior center, but also available at the First Baptist Church across the street on Walnut. We must be out of that parking lot no later than 5:00 as the church has an evening service. What’s Happening? .................... Here’s a recap of our August board meeting as follows: < Our budget was updated and will be emailed to all members. < Sandy Hricik delivered our $200 donation for the Jr High cheerleading squad and announced we will provide dinner for the JV football team at Clay High on Thursday, September 26th. < The portable at CEB used for packing Maggie’s Meals is well stocked and ready to go. < Sunshine chairman Patricia Nisley announced she will offer members who are recuperating the choice of flowers from Winn Dixie or a fruit basket fron Publix. < Fundraising will be selling aprons and note cards. Watch for the announcements from Shirley Orvosh. Arts & Crafts Boutique Update ........... Make your calendars - Monday, November 11 th (Veteran’s Day), our boutique will be held again at Sullivan Hall at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Fleming Island. Chairman Jola Greiner has her committees set and work has begun. Look for upcoming announcements about volunteers and items needed for the boutique. If you would like to volunteer, contact Jola at: [email protected] Welcome New Members . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Carol Pate ............................. Resa Reed Kelly Sapp ......................... PatriciaTreisch New Member Badges Coming .......... The Board voted to update member badges with a new design. All members will receive a new badge that will be distributed stating at the September meeting. Maggie’s Meals Teams Forming Now .... A big thank you to everyone who offered to help with Maggie’s Meals this coming year. Teams are set and the schedule will be out this week. There is still room for a couple of team members and substitutes. If you would like to be included, email Susan at [email protected]. Patty Bransford and Kim Belcher are the Chairmen of our Maggie’s Meals committee this coming school year. Shadows Wanted ..................... We need shadows this year to fill positions that will be open next year. Shadows work along with the chairman of a committee to learn what it takes to do the job. As a shadow, you might also come up with some new ideas - they are always welcome. Right now, we need shadows for Fundraising and Luminaries. Contact President Pam Brame if you are interested. Movie Director This position continues to be open. What could be more fun than selecting a movie each month and meeting members at the movie theater? This person’s responsibility is to choose a movie, a date and a time. Communications will send out an email with the details and you just have to meet at the New Vision Theatres on Fleming Island.
