If you have ever used a computer, microwave oven, or stereo speakers, you have used magnets!
Magnet Facts 1. Magnets are made
from a rock called magnetite or lodestone.
2. Magnetite attracts iron and steel.
3. Magnets have two poles - the North Pole and the South Pole. 4. On a bar magnet the poles are on the ends.
5. Magnets are strongest at the poles.
6. Attract means to pull something to you. Magnets pull things made of iron and steel.
7. Opposites Attract
The North Pole is attracted to the South Pole.
The South Pole is attracted to the North Pole.
8. Repel means to push away. A North Pole repels another North Pole.
9. A force is a push or a pull.
10. A magnetic force is the pulling force of a magnet.
