WHY AFTER AN INSTALLATION OF MAGICAD FOR AUTOCAD IT SOMETIMES HAPPENS THAT MAGICAD'S TABS AND MENUS ARE NOT LOADED, OR THAT ALL THE BUTTONS HAVE CLOUDS OR QUESTION MARKS INSTEAD OF ICONS ON THEM? A: This is caused when an important file does not load properly at startup. The file is called magicad.cuix.

SOLUTION 1: 1. Type CUI in the command line, then press ENTER 2. In the upper left corner under "customizations into all files" you will find an icon called "Partial Customization Files", extract the tree structure using the plus sign Here you should find an icon called "MAGICAD" 3. Right-click the icon “MAGICAD” and press Unload if it is unresolved. (See picture) 4. Press OK to close the dialog 5. Restart AutoCAD

SOLUTION 2

(NO AUTOCAD RIBBONS): 1. Use command MENU to load acad.CUIX 2. acad.CUIX is located in folder: (C:\Users\user.name\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\MEP 2016\enu\Support)

(NO MAGICAD RIBBONS): 1. Use MENULOAD command to load magicad.cuix (C:\ProgramData\MagiCAD\Support) 2. Select Browse -> Load. See picture below

SOLUTION 3: 1. In case the problem persists uninstall MagiCAD and manually delete/remove folder (C:\ProgramData\MagiCAD\Support) and all it’s contents: 2. Reinstall MagiCAD and start it ”as administrator” for first time

WHY I GET ERRORS WHEN EXPORTING TO DIALUX OR RIUSKA A: One reason is that model is far away from origin. Try move model closer to origin.

HOW CAN I CHANGE THE COLOR OF AN OBJECT ? A: You cannot change the color of a specific object, but you can change the color of his layer. You have the possibility to choose between the color from AutoCAD, and ‘By system” and “By layer”

When you choose “By layer” you should use multiple layers for the object. The lines of the object will be separate in different layers: “Centerline”, “1D/2D Edge Line” and “1D/2D Details”. You must determine a Layer name, a Type, a Color and a Line weight.

HOW DO I EXPLODE OBJECTS? A: You can use the command “MAGIEXPLODE” and select parts you want explode.

If you want to explode only Electrical objects: Run the MagiCAD command “MEEXPLODE”, check the object types (corresponding checkboxes) that you want to explode directly to simple primitives (uncheck object types that you want to explode to blocks), click Ok and finally select the objects that you want to explode.

NOTE! It is recommended to explode devices and other symbols to blocks and all other object types to simpler primitives (like selected in the picture above). Use the FLATTEN command of AutoCAD's (free) Express Tools to flatten an exploded 2D drawing.

HOW TO CHANGE FONTS ? A: One way to do this. Go to AutoCAD's own Manage text styles. Create one you want there and apply it. Then you can add it to MagiCAD’s Text styles and use it.

XREF DISAPPEARS WHEN I CALCULATE MY SYSTEM OR WHEN I USE THE FUNCTION “CLEAN” A: The Xref should be located in the MAGI_GARBAGE layer. Put the xref in another layer, preferably in a separate layer that you can lock.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO LOAD AN AUTOCAD DRAWING IN REVIT OR VICE VERSA? A: If you use MagiCAD for AutoCAD you can load your project in Revit via IFC, and vice versa.

WHAT IS PLUGIN MANAGER? A: MagiCAD Plugin Manager enables to download and install specialist MagiCAD plugins and manufacturer-specific product plugins. With these plugins you can select AHU, floor drains, silencers, etc.

WHEN I TRY TO STRETCH OR MOVE A PIPE/DUCT/CABLE TRAY, FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE POPS UP.

A: By following steps below you should be able to use the move function succefully. Be sure that the layer of the object you want to move is not locked.

If you don’t find the layer of your object. Open project and go in the “Layer” settings of the category of the object. See if any of the rows in the column “layers” is empty (except for “insulation”). If yes, write a “Layer code”.

When you are done it, just run Updating Drawing Data, mark « Color, line type, and line weight settings of the object » option.

WHAT IF THE MANUFACTURER PRODUCT I WANT IS NOT IN THE DATABASE? A: If there is a specific product that you want added to the database, please inform us to contact the manufacturer and we will discuss it with them. It is also good if you also contact the manufacturer to underline the importance to them, and explain that it would increase the visibility and usability of their products. We have a dedicated team developing new databases and we constantly add new manufacturers. In the meantime you can also use our generic products to suit your needs, while we complete the modelling process with the manufacturer.

CAN I ADD MY OWN PRODUCTS TO THE DATABASE? A: Yes, you can use “MagiCREATE”.

With this tool, you can modify size and technical characteristics of a generic product, to create a device corresponding to you own wishes.

After that, in the database, choose “Local” instead “Cloud”, and search your file in the data source.

You can also use the function “Set MagiCAD Data to AutoCAD Objects” on one of an AutoCAD block that you created.

WHY THE ”CONNECTION NODE” FUNCTION DID NOT FIND ANY NODES OR CREATES NODES AT THE WRONG PLACE? A: Be sure that the origin point of your architect’s Xrefs of your models are the same, and that you search the nodes at the right place.

HOW CAN I PRINT SWITCHBOARD SCHEMATICS WITH MULTIPLE PAGES? A: You can use either ACAD’s publish function to print out the desired pages after you have created them with Layout function “Batch Plot”.

But you can also use the MagiCAD « PDF export » function if wanted.

WHY MESSAGE “THE PROJECT PATH IS TOO LONG” APPEARS IN THE DIALOG FOR LINE DEFINITIONS A: Ensure that the *.lin file is in the same folder as the other project files (*.qpd, *.epj) and make sure it has the same name as these other files.

WHY RIBBONS ARE NOT DISPLAYED? A: Use the AutoCAD command “MENULOAD”. And load the MagiCAD customization files. Path: « C:\ProgramData\MagiCAD\Support\ »

If, when you reopen AutoCAD later, the ribbons are again not here. Use the AutoCAD command: “cui” and load these same files from the same path in the partial customization file.

HOW TO CREATE DUCT/PIPE SERIES ? A: In the Project, choose Pipe or Duct series. You can create a new series, with a right click button, “Insert” Fill in the size, fit-on length and a ratio value for the Bend R/D. For ducts, you can choose an extra duct length. For pipes, the internal and external diameter, and the diameter of the valve.

HOW DOES THE SIZING METHOD IN MAGICAD WORK? A: In MagiCAD, you can create your own sizing method for ducts and pipes. You still have some sizing methods in your localization files, but you can choose a velocity and a pressure loss limit before increasing the size. It is possible to automatically use the connection size of connected device, to not have a reducer after the device.

CAN I DELETE JUST ONE COLUMN IN SWITCHBOARD SCHEMATICS? A: After you have made the switchboard, you can’t remove column, you need to “remove” it before. In project management there is Switchboard definitions. There you define your switchboard schematic “template”. And there you define which columns is included. But if you make a change, you should re-create you schematics.

HOW CAN I ADD SYMBOLS? A: Create your symbol with AutoCAD, and use the function ”Create Symbol” (be careful with the scale)

Choose name, group, and connection point(s).

The user symbols will be saved in the “UserSymbols” folder of MagiCAD.

WHEN I DO FLOW ROUTE EXAMINATION OR SOUND CALCULATION, I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE ALL THE TIME, "THE SYSTEM MUST BE CALCULATED", WHAT IS WRONG ? A: If you want to make a flow route examination or sound calculation, the entire system needs to be balanced, to only balance a "Branch" is not enough.

IS THERE A VIEWER FOR MAGICAD ? A: When you install MagiCAD for AutoCAD, you can open the different models Dataset, without opening AutoCAD.

With these utilities, engineers who don’t draw or design, can manage the project. We have also another tools, called product browser which allow to see all objects in our database.

CAN I CALCULATE THE VOLUME OF MY PIPING NETWORK? A: When you have done the sizing and the balancing calculation of your network you can use the function “Part property” on the open end of the supply pipe! You can also double-click on the open end to evoke the property dialog.
