    The Groom's 'Do

HAIR CUT: About three months before the wedding, find a salon that has

experience in getting grooms ready on the day of the wedding. Go there.Tell them what you are looking for. Have your final pre-wedding haircut

no later than two weeks prior to the wedding day. Two weeks is just

enough time for the groom's hair to look fresh but not too fresh to show

    any mistakes, if any.

SKIN READY: The week before the wedding things get really busy. You

want to avoid breaking out into zits. A trip to the spa or dermatologist can

ensure that your skin will look its best. This will probably mean a facial

treatment ("A what?!") to cleanse, remove any dead skin and get rid of any

unsightly blackheads or blemishes. Facials aren't just for women. A facial

should be done no later than three days before wedding day as they canleave some redness for up to a day or two after a treatment.

CLOSE-UP: If it's still a bit much for you to waltz into a spa to have a

men's facial, you can certainly treat yourself to a professional shave at a

reputable barber or at a men's salon. Once you try it, you might be hooked

Buttercream- Forget the fondant!Buttercream is better. When frosted evenly{and with a steady hand!} you can still get the

smooth look. Flavour New yummy flavoursare coming to the forefront. Try {the dramaticlooking} Red Velvet, Chocolate Hazelnut,Chocolate orange, Vanilla Bean, Almond,Lemon or Orange and fill them with something

nice like dark or white chocolate ganache orCaramel Buttercream. {OMG yum!} Height -Cakes are getting taller. Really towering cakesare normally for more formal weddings butwhether you have more layers because youneed them or want to add a fake tier to get the

height, stack them high for drama. 2 Tier - Abit more rustic or vintage, this may seem tocontradict the above but not really, have yourbaker double stack two cakes and frosttogether for height. Or if your wedding {and

your budget} is smaller, put your cake on afabulous stand to add the height and drama.

Desserts/cake table - Mix things up a bitand give your guests some selection. Get asmaller cake and offer cupcakes, tarts, cookies, cake pops, any kind of baked goodsand make a beautiful display out of it. This isgreat to add focus to an otherwise useless

wall or corner of your venue too. Big singleflower - 2011 wont see so much of the multi-

all over the cake flowers, bright colours orreally busy over decorated cakes. Keep itclassic with few and simple designs and guesswhat? You will still think its beautiful in 20

    years.Source: www.thebeautybridal.com

Reception dinner options from Anais Events

PLATED: A served meal is very elegant but can

also be very involved. Remember to identify

the menu options in your invitations and

have your guests indicate their selections in

the response cards. It is very important to keep

track of these selections because your caterer willneed this information. Remember to mark the

card with initials or names so that in case your

guests dont fill out the name, you will knowwho they are! You will also need to create a

system to help the servers know which meal to

serve to what guests. The easiest way to do this

is via colour coded cards or accessories.

BUFFET: Buffets are great because they require

little work from the bride, and sometimes they

can be less expensive than a plated meal. However, this is not always the case as you need

to offer guests multiple entree choices (caterers

will need to over prepare for the additional need).

Avoid cattle calling and arrange for staff to escort

tables to the buffet stations for a less chaotic

    dining experience.

    FAMILY STYLE:Cant decide between plated

or buffet? A family style meal is the best of both

worlds. Your guests get to enjoy creating their

own portions by serving themselves like a buffetyet get to stay seated like a plated meal. Beware

of overcrowded tables with this choice keep thecenterpieces small and seat fewer guests at the

    table!

HOR DOEUVRES ONLY: Tray passed or

table-placed hor doeuvres are another great idea.

However, they dont always save money! Talk toyour caterer about options and price against a full

meal choice. Be sure to orchestrate your evening

so guests wont expect a full meal. This by theway is a perfect choice for the post-ceremony

    luncheon

    Top wedding entertainment ideas:

    (1) Have a great DJ that plays the songs that youlike & allows you to put together a list of all yourfavourites. If you like live music then you must

have a live band, jazz band or a more traditional

music group. This is a great alternative to a DJ.(2) A harpist could play during the ceremony, tokeep your guests entertained whilst you sign the

register or have them play throughout yourreception.(3) A firework display is a great way to

end a perfect day and Pyrotechnics have alsobecome a very popular option. (4) Close up

magicians are a wonderful and popularentertainment idea. (5) Want a delicious

entertainment idea, how about a chocolatefountain? Chocolate fountains are also a great

way of getting guests to mingle and are greatconversation starters for guests that dont know

each other. (6) A great idea for an outdoorsummer wedding is to have stilt walkers andjugglers, also great for a Victorian or Vintage

Theres just so much that goes into a wedding, that sometimes a simple thank you or

congratulations tends to become not enough so the best next thing is the many gifting

options available to both the bridal couple and guests. There is a lot of gift

exchanging in a wedding, theres those that the bridal couple gives to their entourage

(best man, bridesmaids) and those that they give their guests (the favours), this is a

souvenir to thank their guests for sharing their special day with them. Then there is

the gifts which come from the guests to the bridal couple, to say congratulations.

Gifts are also exchanged between the bridal couples family. The brides family

prepare gift trays for the groom which is exchanged before the big day and the same

happens for the bride on the wedding day. Well actually there are so many reasons to

give gifts during a celebration like a wedding, even the groom should surprise his wife-

to-be with a little something special. The most important thing to remember is that it

is the thought behind the gift or favour that should count and not the gift itself.

Just as with any big show, your wedding day

will not be perfect but thats okay. Whileyou cannot plan ahead for every little

detail or problematic situation that may

arise, you can arm yourself with some

helpful advice to be prepared at alltimes for any potential wedding mistakes. But before you begin planning your special

day, consider these five biggest wedding preparation and planning mistakes that

    brides-to-be often make.(www.myweddingideas.net)

    Not Budgeting Costs

    Not Giving Yourself Enough Time

    Not Delegating Responsibilities

Not Hiring a Wedding Planner or Someone You TrustNot Full Considerin the Venue and DetailsLearn to Laugh Off Those Wedding Mistakes Pre-wedding preparation, while

helpful, will inevitably miss some little detail of your big day. These wedding mistakes

(or, more likely, minor blips) are to be expected and may even provide a funny

moment for you and your fianc to laugh about in the future. Wedding mistakes do and

will happen, but you shouldnt be bothered by them.

Simply go on with the show and smile,no one will know the difference

Choosing a wedding venue has more to dowith your resources and the number ofguests you would like in attendance thananything else. The venue forms a majorpart in the total cost on the wedding, sobe prepared. Couples getting married in

South Africa have a wide variety ofromantic, first class wedding venues available to them. Popular wedding venues inSouth Africa include pristine beaches, the breathtaking Winelands, a first class hotel andmore recently, the amazing game parks of South Africa. This is a chance to experience aromantic wedding in the wild . Decide what kind of wedding you want to host. The firstthing to do once you have decided on a possible venue is to book an appointment and doa site inspection. Find out if this really is the ideal venue for you. Most venues charge acost per head for food and drink plus venue hire. Couples should not only take into accountthe look and feel of the venue, but also all the hidden costs that come along with it. Thesecosts could include additional hire charge for tables, chairs, lectern, and entertainment.Make up a full list of costs and charges as you go along. Find out what equipment andfacilities are included in the cost and what needs to be hired. Remember that if you have

your reception at a restaurant you will not have to hire tables, chairs, cutlery and the rest. If, however, you want your wedding in a marquee or hall, you should take all of theseextra costs into consideration and include it all in your final budget . Many weddingvenues in South Africa provide equipment such as lectern, tables, table cloths chairs, cutlery, music, catering, waiters etc. Also, if you plan on staying the night at the weddingvenue, find out if this is included in the price. After everything is inspected and allquestions have been asked, make sure you receive a written confirmation of everythingthat has been agreed upon.

need for them to have decor added

to the existing area. Venues such as

If you choose to go for an outdoor

Important Things To ConsiderWhen Choosing a

Wedding PhotographerExperience Level - Has this person photographed other weddings? Does he/she do thisfor a living or for fun?

Photographic Style - Are the images that you are shown. What you would like to see? There are "buzz" words flying about everywhere about photojournalism, formal, classiccandid, and so on. Do you want a mixture of black and white or only colour photos?

Truth in Advertising - Is this the photographer that will be photographing your weddingor will they send in whomever is available. Don't be shocked, this happens more often thanyou can imagine. Be certain that you know which photographer is going to be there and

that you see HIS/HER work and meet with that individual face to face.

Personality - Is the photographer that you meet someone that youcan get along with? Is the "chemistry" there?

Appearance - Ask the photographer how he/she intends to dress. Is this person well groomed?

Price Range - Although, the last thing you want to do is shop byprice, is this person within your budget? If not, is he or she worththe price difference? Make sure you understand what everything

    costs, including reprints and albums.

Delivery - How long does it take to get your proofs back, thank youcards, your finished album, your bridal portrait, etc.?

Offering - Whether it's a la carte or a package, do you understandwhat you are getting? Is there any room for changes and will it costto do so? Sometimes the packages are fixed, sometimes they can becustomized, in any case, ask. How much time will he/she spend? What if you need more time? Make sure that you know what'scoming.

Contract - Do you understand the contract. Is it fair? Is everythingspelled out? When it comes down to going to court, only what isWRITTEN really counts, not what was promised. Make sure that youhave no doubts before signing. Read it ALL.

What about deposits and payments? What does it say aboutcancellations and the photographer not being there? If thephotographer protests, ask him why? This is one area NOT to takelightly. You could be disappointed for a long time.

References - A personal reference is always the best and peoplelove to talk. Get a list of references from the photographer andcheck them out personally. A photographer who doesn't havereferences or is afraid to give them to you may not be the personthat you need to hire.

    one of the most important

    thoughts as it will allow

    you to know just how

    elaborate you can go with

    your planning

Take into consideration what type of wedding

reception you would like to have. Will this take

place immediately after the ceremony at the same

venue? This also depends on what time you want to

have the actual ceremony. You could go for a dayceremony and then serve lunch or be different and

board, which will portray the vision for

    your wedding.

The easiest way to create an inspiration

board is definitely on the computer: all

you have to do is scan magazine images, add photographs of objects and places

that inspire you, along with all the

images you downloaded from theInternet and create an inspiration board

with a photo and image editing software. The way you create your inspiration

board is not important, creating it iswhats most important.

    What is it used for?

An inspiration board can be very usefulto show your vendors, as well as your

decorator, wedding planner, florist, photographer and cake stylist so thatthey may understand what type of look

you want for your wedding. A wedding

inspiration board will help keep you

focused and prevent you from buyingthings that do not fit the vision you

    have for your wedding.

In order to create an unforgettable

wedding day, every single detail counts,

especially the inspiration that will allowyou to organize an amazing wedding,

which will surprise everyone andeverything. Where to start? Simple: with

    an inspiration board.

    What is an inspiration board?

Also known as a wedding story board, a

wedding inspiration board is a collage ofimages and photographs which

represent the spirit and tone of yourwedding. This collage will help decide

the weddings colour palette, theme, decorating ideas and other details, all of

which as the name says will be the

    inspiration for your wedding.

    How to start?

An inspiration board is created withimages selected from magazines,

    websites, personal photographs,

catalogues, etc., basically anything thatspeaks to you and portrays what you

    have envisioned for your wedding.

Whenever you come across images that

you like, clip them and keep them in afolder or in a file on the computer. If you

feel like making a real inspiration board,

you can always print out the images you

have saved on the computer, cut outmagazine pages, collect fabric swatches,

small objects and paste everything on acard board or bulletin Source: www.stylishweddingideas.com

    Source: www.stylemepretty.com

Start your planning by thinking of which

colours you like or if you have a desired

    theme for your wedding

then gather, compile and have fun!
