2. 1817 Madison County Government with 1st Courthouse built in Morrisville. 3. 1823 Abram Antone Arrested, tried and hanged 4. 1839 Judge James Warren Nye elected Madison County, NY .. District Attorney Practiced law at Madison Hall. Secretary was Mark Twain Appointed Governor of Nevada by Abraham Lincoln 5. 1849 1st Courthouse demolished and 2nd courthouse built on same foundation 6. Bicknell Hall built on one side and a Jail on the other. 7. 1864 2nd courthouse burned to the ground from fire allegedlyset by Loomis Gang 8. 1865 Third Courthouse built on same foundation 9. 1877 Building extended to the rear. 10. 1908 Courthouse moved to Wampsville 11. 1909 New York State School of Agriculture established in vacant Madison Hall ( now Morrisville State College) 12. 1923 Basement fire nearly burned Madison Hall downAgain 13. 1930 14. 1938 15. 1910 -1977 Morrisville State College used Madison Hall for classrooms, assemblies and graduations. 16. 1967 Adjacent Jail building (Helyar Hall) torn down 17. 1977 1988 Morrisville State College used Madison Hall as a warehouse. 18.
