LM-3204E
32x2x2 STEREO LINE MIXER
It has our“four buses in a 2-busboard” ALT 3-4 feature.ALT 3-4 gives you an extrastereo output that eachchannel can be assigned toat the touch of a button.
The LM-3204 shares thesame Mackie Mix Amp ar-chitecture as our provenCR-1604 and MicroSeries1202. Like our other com-pact mixers, it is designedto handle hot inputs on allchannels without exhaust-ing headroom.
Two mic preamps.Even though the
LM-3204 is a line mixer,we wanted to increase itsutility in live applications.So we added two of ourproven mic preamplifiers, adesign well known for itshigh headroom and ultra-low noise. Both micpreamps have trim con-trols, balanced XLR inputsand 1/4" outputs. The out-puts can be patched into
TheLM-3204 LineMixer combines ex-ceptional sound qualitywith up to forty lmono ineinputs in five rack spaces.It features sixteen stereo(16x2) inputs plus fourstereo (4x2) AUX returns.Additional inputs can beadded in multiples of 16stereo channels with theLM-3204E Expander unit.
Proven Mackiefeatures in a line
mixer configuration.Naturally, the LM-3204
has our CR-1604 and Mi-cro Series 1202's bestpoints: luxurious head-room, Unity gain structure,+4dBu internal operatinglevels, intuitive layout andin-depth metering. It hasour 3-band equalization atmusically useful points:12kHz shelving treble formore sizzle, instead of theconventional 10kHz. 2.5Hzpeaking midrange. And80Hz bass instead of100Hz.

buses under normalconditions;
■ The output of your taperecorder (or some other
source patched into theTape In jacks) when theTape Monitor switch ispushed, or;
■ The stereo solo buseswhenever any Soloswitch is pressed. Thesolo circuits override theTape Monitor switch.In the up position, the
Tape Monitor switchselects the main Left andRight bus outputs for themonitor circuits and themeters. In the down posi-tion, the Tape Monitorswitch selects the Tape
AUX Return 3 inputs aredisconnected. Instead,the outputs of the ALT 3-4 buses are routed intothe AUX Return 3 controland circuitry. This allowsyou to use ALT 3-4 as apair of submix buses andthen remix them backinto the main Left andRight buses.
AUX Return to Con-trol Room Only for AUXReturn 4. When thisswitch is up, AUX Return4 functions normally.When the switch isdown, the AUX Return 4is disconnected from themain Left and Rightbuses and is reconnectedto the control roommonitor and headphonecircuits (where it is mixedback in with Left andRight signal on its way tothe Monitor section). Thisallows you to wet moni-tor or send performers acue or click feed withouthaving it go onto tape.
Main Outputs are elec-tronically balanced andcapable of driving record-ers at either +10dBV or+4dBu. 1/4" TS Tape Injacks provide a monitorreturn for deck output.Tape In jacks are routedthrough the Tape Monitorswitch in the Main Out-put section which cansend the signal to theControl Room andPhones buses. The LM-
3204 also has four unbal-anced RCA-type connectorswith Out RCA jacks con-nected in parallel to theMain Output jacks.
Expandable withthe LM-3204E.
Need 32, 48 or even 64stereo line inputs withoutadding significant noise ordegrading overall head-room? The LM-3204E isessentially an LM-3204without the master section.It includes 16 stereo chan-nels and four Aux returns.Connection is via a propri-etary ribbon cable. TheLM-3204E also includes aribbon cable input so thatexpanders can be daisy-chained.
All the “hidden” thingsMackie is noted for.
Such as a built-in powersupply with IEC cord, built-in RFI protection and sealedrotary potentiometers. TheLM-3204's front panel cir-cuit board is a horizontal,through-hole-plated fiber-glass slab attached withsolid brass standoffs that
flicker or light almost con-stantly when there isactivity in that channel,and it basically serves as aconvenient way of figuringout what's plugged intowhere.
New monitor andtape features
The LM-3204 also intro-duces new features thatprovides real flexibility forboth live and studio appli-cations.
It has separate ControlRoom and Phone moni-
Inputs for the monitorcircuits and the meters.Control Room outputs areprovided for connectionto a power amplifier(without tying up yourheadphone output).
The LM-3204's fourstereo Aux returns includetwo new features:
Source ALT 3-4 switchfor AUX Return 3. Withthe switch up, AUX Return3 is just what it's adver-tised to be: an AUXReturn. When the SourceALT 3-4 switch is down,
