The Be a Recorder Star® Reward System is designed to motivate students by awarding brightly colored stars for learning new notes, symbols and songs. The stars have a specially selected adhesive backing which allows them to be securely placed on the students’ safety neck straps. The stars can be removed and placed back on the strap but we recommend against repeatedly removing the stars in order to avoid wearing off the adhesive. You may wish to adjust the pace at which you award the stars depending upon how much of the method book you complete. The star system is very flexible and you may easily adapt it to your teaching situation.

As part of this year’s music curriculum, your child will be learning to play the recorder. The recorder presents a wonderful opportunity to introduce music reading and appreciation. I hope that by giving the students a positive, enjoyable learning experience they will be encouraged to develop an interest in music.
