Since its founding by the InternationalAssociation of Machinists in 1948, GuideDogs of America, in Sylmar, California, hasgiven sightless people from all over theUnited States and Canada the ability to movefreely in a world of beauty they cannot see. Guide Dogs of America is a nonprofit,charitable organization, fully certified by theCalifornia State Guide Dog Board. Allservices provided to blind individuals arefree, including the dog, harness, training andlifetime follow-up. With the need for highly qualified servicedogs continuously growing, Guide Dogs ofAmerica (GDA) merged with Tender LovingCanines (TLC) in January of 2020, allowingus to expand our ability to offer service dogsfor Veterans, children with Autism as well asFacility Dogs Over 3,300 dogs have graduated from therigorous training that transforms them fromcute puppies into reliable, loving, dependableGuide Dogs for the blind.
