of storage for importing your favorite music from CDs, MP3 players, or USB sticks. Compared with its competitors, the 5 Series iDrive offers superior ergonomics with a high-mounted display and center console controller. All this ensures drivers’ eyes stay on the road, not on the screen or controls.

Beyond the standard functions, the new iDrive system also accesses BMW Assist® services. The BMW Assist Safety Plan-included for four years at no extra costs-offers an arsenal of safety, security, and convenience services. Trained re-sponse specialists are available at the touch of a button, ready to provide you with enhanced roadside assistance. The system also includes Bluetooth® hands-free calling capabilities with speech recognition.

Partnering with Google™, 5 Series drivers can save time by sending a destination from the Internet directly to their BMW before beginning a journey. MyInfo allows drivers to upload business listings, street addresses, and phone numbers to the all-new 5 Series for immediate navigational assistance. Drivers can also search Google maps from within the vehicle by subscribing to the optional BMW Assist Conve-nience Plan. With “BMW Search,” users can quickly find desired businesses through Google’s powerful search engine.

Parking Assistant

Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you always have to do it your-self. The BMW Parking Assistant searches for a parking space, and does the parking for you at the drop of a command.

Ultrasonic sensors in the side indicators search for availability when traveling at speeds of up to 22 mph. Blue arrows indicate if parking is avail-able on the left or right side of the road, while also taking care of steering as you select the cor-rect gear and control the accelerator and brake.

Rear Seat EntertainmentThe 5 Series includes the option of a dual mul-

timedia, high-resolution entertainment system. The vibration-resistant displays provide both rear passengers with the comfort of their own screen.

Navigational and Entertainment ServerNow, not only does your vehicle store direc-

tions to your favorite locations, it can access the soundtrack to the drive. The 5 Series is equipped with an 80GB hard drive, storing an Electronic

Owner’s Manual, navigation system, saved maps, and entertainment server—ca-pable of uploading your music, photos, and files from the CD and DVD reader or USB port.

The Premium SoundThe 5 Series doesn’t just play music. It offers an immersive 16-speaker premium

surround system with nine-channel amplifier and 600 watts of power. The result? Dynamic sound throughout the cabin. When it comes to what passengers listen to through this system, the possibilities are limitless. The optional multimedia adaptor plugs into iPhones, iPods, and other MP3 for stereo playback. Skip tracks, access up to five playlists, store music on the optional hard drive, and adjust the volume through the 5 Series’ steering wheel controls or optional iDrive control-ler. Over 1,300 nationwide AM and FM stations with HD Radio technology, while over 600 stations also include multicasting options, displaying the artist and track names of songs as they play. In addition, the new flagship also allows for optional SIRIUS Satellite radio, which offers 60 commercial-free music stations and more than 40 news, sports and entertainment stations. The first year subscription is included.

Auto Start-StopThe idea is simple: when you stop, so will your engine.

Red lights, long trains, traffic jams, road work. There are countless instances when your engine unnecessarily uses fuel while your vehicle is not in motion. With the intelligent Auto Start-Stop function-an innovation developed as part of BMW EfficientDynamics-your BMW is designed to not only reduce fuel consumption, but also lower emissions so your engine can automatically turn off when it’s not needed, and restart when it is.

Auto Start-Stop is managed by a central control unit that monitors the battery.To ensure passenger comfort and safety, Auto Start-Stop is only active when

certain conditions are met. These include, but are not limited to:– An adequately charged battery– An engine at the ideal operating temperature– Fully closed doors– Fastened seatbelts

Brake Energy RegenerationTo supply a battery with electrical energy, the generator (alternator) is usually

driven using engine power, which requires fuel. With Brake Energy Regeneration, the generator produces electricity when the driver brakes or takes a foot off the accelerator. Kinetic energy that was previously unharnessed is transformed into electrical energy, then fed into the battery. In this way, electricity is generated without consuming fuel.

BMW Approved Cold Weather TiresBMW Approved Cold Weather Tires have been specifically formulated to combat

the reduction in traction that occurs when the temperatures drop below 45°F. An optimized balance between physics and chemistry provides the superb grip that’s required to keep your BMW performing like the Ultimate Driving Machine® on all adverse road conditions in virtually all weather.

Head-Up DisplayIt’s a simple idea, really: the better your focus is on the road, the more in con-

trol you’ll be of any driving situation. Our optional Head-Up Display gives you the ability to see relevant information such as speed and navigation directions, without the need to look down and lose sight of what’s ahead of you. The readout

is projected onto the windshield, in your line of vision. It is clear, easy to read, and even responds to light, adjusting its brightness for daytime, nighttime or hazy conditions, so driving is more enjoyable.

Night Vision with Pedestrian DetectionOptional BMW Night Vision allows drivers to see animals and pedestrians over

900 feet ahead—in the dark. Utilizing infrared technology from the vehicle’s built-in, front camera, the 5 Series displays potential road hazards on the navigation system monitor so that drivers might avoid them well before they are visible to the naked eye. In the 5 Series, Night Vision Pedestrian Detection technology distin-guishes between animals and humans and alerts the driver accordingly. At a closer range, it identifies their position and the direction in which they are moving. If a pedestrian approaches or crosses the road, thermal imaging technology alerts a 5 Series system to display a symbol in the control panel and, if equipped, on the Head-Up Display.

Rear-View CameraThe 5 Series comes with the option to enhance visibility and safety with a Rear-

View Camera. Located by the handle of the trunk, it transmits a high-resolution image to the iDrive monitor, as well as optimum driving trajectories for parking and the location of obstacles.

Park Distance ControlSo intuitive, it helps you see things you normally can’t. Park Distance Control uses

eight sensors - four in the front, four in the rear - to measure exactly how far you are from other vehicles and unseen objects when parking. As your bumper approaches a stationary object, the image on the iDrive screen changes and beeping becomes faster, turning into a constant tone when the distance is less than 12 inches.

Active Blind Spot Detection Looking forward isn’t just a metaphor for our insatiable desire to innovate. It’s

also quite literal. The available Active Blind Spot Detection system helps eliminate blind spots and actually allows drivers to avoid collisions when changing lanes, literally keeping your gaze straight ahead. Using radar sensors at the rear of the vehicle to monitor the traffic behind it, this system alerts drivers if a vehicle is in their blind spot by displaying a light on their side-view mirror housings. And on the chance the driver does not notice the warning and signals to indicate chang-ing lanes, the light on the mirror housing begins to flash and the steering wheel vibrates.

TORRANCE, Calif —The new 2013 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe have received the highest available safety rating of TOP SAFETY PICK+ from the Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). This recognition makes the Civic Sedan and Coupe the first and only IIHS Small cars in the industry to earn a TOP SAFETY PICK+.

Honda leads all other brands in achieving TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings with four models – Civic Sedan and Coupe, and Accord Sedan and Coupe. Further, for the 2013 model year, all Honda and Acura models tested1 by the IIHS have received a TOP SAFETY PICK or TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating.

The new Civic Sedan, equipped with the second generation of the Honda Advanced Compatibility Body Structure™ (ACE™II), is not only the first Small car to earn TOP SAFETY PICK+ in the industry, but also the first and only to earn the highest possible rating of GOOD on the IIHS’ new small overlap frontal crash test (sometimes called a ‘narrow offset’ test). This aggressive test is designed to simulate what happens when the front corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object such as a tree or utility pole at high speed. The ACE™II reinforced body structure found on the 2013 Civic further enhances frontal crash energy through a wider range of these offset and oblique collision scenarios.

This week I had the opportunity to try out the 2013 BMW 535i Sedan. With gadgets galore this was one fun test drive!

The BMW 5-Series is a family of cars that includes sedans, hatchbacks, and wagons, and represents one of the core models in the BMW lineup. Over time the 5-Series has evolved into a high-perfor-mance, premium vehicle, competing with the likes of the Mer-cedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, Cadillac CTS, and Jaguar XF.

For 2013, the new 560-horsepower M5 joins the 5 Series line-up along with a number of minor performance and cosmetic enhancements. Leading the list of changes is a next-generation navigation system with weather forecasts and crowd-sourced traffic information, newly available bespoke features from BMW Individual and a 45-horsepower bump for Gran Turismo variants sporting the twin turbo V8.

As I cruised town, I enjoyed the heavy feel of the car—I felt very protected. The 30 MPG Highway was nice as well. I zipped through downtown using the paddle shifters with the iDrive program directing me from destination to destination. This car really had any gadget you could think of or ever need.

My kids liked the built in DVD players for the back seat drivers. The system was easy for them to navigate with little help from me and it kept them entertained while I went about my day.

This, like all BMW 5-Series before it, was truly a solid car with all the extras. Drive over the BMW of Little Rock today and test drive one for yourself!

New, Fun, Attractive and I believe one of the best changes Toyota has made. The all-new 2013 Toyota RAV4 has made an edgy change and it’s good!

Toyota RAV4. Then I opened the door and my favorite new change was de�antly the two-tone, black-and-tan (Terra Cotta) leather seats with thick attractive stitching across the dash. The dashboard has a pronounced ledge that runs its entire length with additional buttons under that include Eco and Sport mode as well as the USB connector.

The new RAV4 is o�ered only with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine generating 176 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard, and buyers choose between front-wheel drive and AWD. The powertrain includes Eco, Normal and Sport driving mode selections, and the optional Dynamic Torque Control AWD system supplies Auto, Lock and Sport driving mode selec-tions. There is plenty of room for four adults and even a dog in the back, never challenging either the RAV4’s seat or legroom.

I had to run to the store to grab a few things needed for this week and that’s when the coveted remote control hatch open was noticed, which brings any SUV’s rating up. So, if you are in the market for a small but roomy SUV run, don’t walk, to North Point Toyota and test-drive this new SUV or even just buy one since Toyota made all of these additions and then lowered the price from last year. If you are into technology or just a fun new ride Toyota hit the nail on the head with this baby!
