Maati or earth, is one of the five elements, or panchamahabhuta, that make up a human body. The five elements of nature according to Hindu mythology; earth, water, fire, space and air - are essential in our formation. And after the body perishes, the elements dissolve into the respective elements, and thus restoring nature’s balance. Maati, one of the fundamental building blocks of life, is what has inspired us to design products that can take us back to our roots. Designs that have a visceral quality to connect everyone of us, and to restore santulan, or balance with nature.

Wood, steel and terra-cotta bases exclusively handcrafted by master potters, form our inaugural range of tables – designed for indoors as well as outdoors. Designs are available in varying forms and finishes to cater to the functional

requirements of contemporary living.

Maati has been co-conceptualized by Ahmedabad based studios this & that by Ariane Thakore, and A Cube Inc. by brothers Anand & Anuj Ambalal. Our emphasis is to design sustainable, handcrafted products with sensitivity, and to contextualize traditional craftsmanship into the contemporary scenario.
