    1 Introduction

    1.1 References to Additional Information

If you are familiar with the basic principle of the fault clearance you can start withfault clearance at once. Otherwise we advise that you read the appropriate registerin Documentation Overview in order to be able to use the manual effectively for faultclearance purposes. The Documentation Overview contains detailed information onall general aspects of fault clearance.

When replacing or handling modules please observe the Safety Instructions forpersonal and products (EN60950/IEC60950).

A description of DSU hardware and associated structure and function can be foundin following information: Data Service Unit

    1.2 Diagnosis

For information about diagnosis and functions tested or interruption of diagnosis, seeNonstandard Maintenance Manual NM:DSU.

i The Data Service Unit is called DLU in the various sections because the term DLUcontinues to be used in the fault reports and diagnostic results.

3.1 Fault clearance in the DLU system or in the DLU equip-ment

    DLU204

1 Determine suspect moduleRefer to the fault report to find the DLU number and the module address.

2 Decision blockIs a fault report WRONG DLU TYPE output? Y h...3

    N h...6

    3 Information block

Module DLUS is defective or has the wrong firmware.

    4 Module replacement

Use the appropriate replacement procedure. i ...REP:DLUS

    5 Information block

    Continue in block: h...14

    6 Interrogate operating stateb STAT DLU:DLU=dlu;

7 Decision blockRefer to the state interrogation to determine the operating state of the partnerDLU side that is not specified in the fault report. Is the partner DLUC ACT andACCESS-DEGRADING = NON? Y h...8

    N h...27

Configuration of one DLU side to MBL when the other side is also faulty willresult in total failure of the DLU.

8 Decision blockIs the DLUC concerned ACT and ACCESS-DEGRADING = NON? Y h...9

    N h...10
