    Trident7 Element Management System

Auroras comprehensive PON solutions include a high capacity, high density chassis, a

compact chassis and a node-based OLT. The highly resilient network components extend

through the PON distribution network to the customer premises for demanding SLA-based

applications. Multiple redundant high capacity 10 GigE ports are provided as the edge

interface to the core network. Service assurance is supported through stringent QoS/CoS

    and security features.

The centralized Management System supports mass provisioning of our ONT devices

including multiple operators for Open Access deployments. Open, standards-based

interfaces facilitate integration with third party OSS/BSS back office systems as well as

supporting the evolving DPoE and SIEPON provisioning models.

The EMS allows the user to customize client views, as well as set system preferences,

supporting a full set of automatic ONT deployment features including:

    ONT discovery and activation

    Software upgrades

    Default configuration settings application

Service provisioning via OSS or OSR control all without operator intervention

    Technology and Product Descriptions

    Custom EMS System Configuration

The Trident7EMS (Element Management System) Platform is a cost effective and powerfu

service provisioning tool optimized to support multi-service provider Open Access networks,

and to simplify network operations and OSS integration for Auroras advanced access

solutions. Reducing operational complexity is accomplished with automated service

provisioning and intuitive device configuration tools. The EMS institutes a services

provisioning rather than an individual element port provisioning model to reduce operational

complexity and errors by eliminating the need to touch every network element interface

between the OLT ingress and consumer ports for circuit activation and change.

The EMS provides an open architecture North Bound Interface (NBI) supporting

multiple OSS platforms and the emerging DPoE and SIEPON standards. The streamlining

of network element provisioning extends through the NBI by significantly reducing the

number of operations that need to be supported.

The EMS enables fully automated device configuration and service provisioning. When the system is set up for

flow-through automated provisioning, service packages are sent via a northbound interface to the EMS where

the packages are translated into the appropriate VLAN, QoS, and service settings on the ONT and OLT. Service

provisioning templates can even be sent prior to installation of a device, in which case the EMS holds settings

with a logical placeholder until the device appears in the network. Auto-provisioning coupled with service templates

enables the service provider to provision thousands of subscribers conveniently and efficiently.

Additionally, the EMS can backup all provisioned and configured parameters and store them in the EMS

database. Network operators can configure the scheduler to backup the network on a recurring basis in order to

keep the database synchronized and current with the most recent customer provisioning information.

    Flexible Provisioning

The EMS features advanced fault management, including powerful alarm notification, event history browsing, and

operator configurable reports. SNMP traps are captured by the management modules of the OLTs and sent via JMX

to the EMS platform, where they are immediately viewable as well as written to a log file. The alarm logging feature

can be configured to aggregate duplicate alarms and show an associated count with a time stamp of the last alarm

event received. Using this feature, users may set up filters such that only specified alarms are displayed in the fault

    viewer window.

Users may also use the EMS to acknowledge and clear active alarms. Tabs on the active alarm window show

counts for how many alarms are active for each severity level. Clicking on a severity tab will display only thealarms at that severity level.

    DOCSIS Compatibility

    Aurora's AUROS Provides DOCSIS Compatibility

AUROS will provide full support for the DPoE 1.0 specification including IP Network Element functionality in the future.

This will be available for all new Aurora PON solutions including the Trident7 T7-PIM-8802 EPON blade and new

GE4222 Node PON OLT. Ultimately, this functionality will unlock the capabilities of the Trident7 platform while enabling

an operator to continue using their existing DOCSIS-based provisioning systems. With support for chassis and cloud-based

approaches, operators can optimize the Trident7 for their particular configuration to meet their network operations exactly.

AUROS also offers a subset of the DPoE 1.0 functionality (excluding L3 Exterior Gateway primitives). In either case,

AUROS integrates with existing DOCSIS provisioning systems. For example, Aurora showed a working solution in

conjunction with Sigma Systems at Expo in 2008. This solution is available today on Auroras Node PON OLT device.

AUROS will enable true DOCSIS interoperability through the DPoE standard OAM with the release of the next-generation

Trident7 PIM-8802 and the next generation Node PON module GE4222.
