NUCLEAR FAMILY

A couple and children live together Children – either biological or adopted Also called Elementary Family

SINGLE-PARENT FAMILY

One parent and children live together Causes – divorce, death, no marriage,

adoption 90% of single-parent families are headed by

mothers

EXTENDED FAMILY

Close relatives live in one house or close from each other

It includes grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins

Responsibilities are shared among all family members

BLENDED FAMILY

Biological parent, a stepparent, and the children of one or both parents

Children may feel that stepparent is an intruder

Children may have troubles with their step brothers

FOSTER FAMILY

Cares for children that their real parents cannot care for them

They give them a temporary house Sometimes they adopt them
