Principal’s Message
Dear King ’s Highway Famil ies,
We have had an excit ing February, and with the
unseasonably warm temperatures outs ide , it has real ly he lped to
keep al l o f our staf f and students excited and motivated throughout
our school . During the month your chi ld has had the opportunity to
ce lebrate Black History Month by learning about histor ical Afr ican
Americans dur ing our morning announcement tr iv ia contest, and
within c lassroom discussions and activ it ies. At King’s Highway this
ce lebrat ion wil l not end on February 28 th as we wi ll cont inue to
ce lebrate the divers ity and cultures o f indiv iduals who have he lped
shape our great nat ion.
March is gear ing up to be quite a busy month for us here at
King ’s Highway as we continue to provide a var iety of outstanding
opportunities for our students and famil ies to part icipate in. To
name a few, we are looking forward to our annual PTO Donuts with
Me event that wi l l be taking place on March 23 rd and 24 th s tarting
at 8:00 on both days in our cafeter ia . Also, i f you have , or know o f a
child that wi ll be turning f ive on or be fore September 1 , our
Kindergarten Registrat ion process wi ll be taking place the week of
March 6 – March 10. Please contact Mrs. Stauffer or Mrs. Thomas
in our o f fice to schedule an appointment, and we look forward to
seeing our future King ’s Highway kindergarteners dur ing this
important event.
Our third, fourth, and f i f th graders are cont inuing to work
hard in preparat ion for the PSSA assessments which wil l begin for
al l s tudents within the state o f Pennsylvania on Apri l 4 th. I know
our students wi l l do their very best, and wi l l incorporate all o f the
knowledge and test taking ski l ls that they have gained from the ir
teachers s ince the beginning o f the school year . Over the course o f
the next several weeks he lpful h ints and reminders wi l l be sent
home so that you can help prepare your chi ld to do their best on
these important assessments. Also, i t is important to remember
that i f you are looking to schedule family vacat ions, doctor ’ s
appointments, or any other act ivi t ies that would keep your child
from attending schoo l, please avo id Apri l 4 th through May 3 rd as this
is our Language Arts , Math, and Science testing window. Having
students arr ive at schoo l on t ime i s a lso very important dur ing
these weeks. Throughout these days of testing the PTO wil l be
providing a snack for each student every day. This is a great way to
make sure that every student is gett ing the nutri t ion they need
throughout the day to do their best on these important tests .
Let’ s a ll keep our fingers crossed that with the arr ival o f Spring

GOOD CITIZENS FOR FEBRUARY
Parents are asked to remind their children
of the importance of obeying bus safety
rules while riding the bus and also at the
bus stop. The word “assigned” is an
important word as it applies to bus
procedures. Students may only ride their
“assigned” bus, must remain in their
“assigned” seat, and may load and
unload the bus only at their “assigned”
stop. Failure to comply with the bus
rules could result in a dangerous situation
for all students. Students reported for
repeated violations of the bus rules will
have their bus privileges suspended for a
period of time. Bus rules are enforced for
everyone’s safety.
