PSSA DATES: April 4-7 English (Gr. 3-5) April 25-27—Math (Gr. 3-5) May 2&3—Science (4th Grade) Principal’s Message Dear King’s Highway Families, We have had an exciting February, and with the unseasonably warm temperatures outside, it has really helped to keep all of our staff and students excited and motivated throughout our school. During the month your child has had the opportunity to celebrate Black History Month by learning about historical African Americans during our morning announcement trivia contest, and within classroom discussions and activities. At King’s Highway this celebration will not end on February 28 th as we will continue to celebrate the diversity and cultures of individuals who have helped shape our great nation. March is gearing up to be quite a busy month for us here at King’s Highway as we continue to provide a variety of outstanding opportunities for our students and families to participate in. To name a few, we are looking forward to our annual PTO Donuts with Me event that will be taking place on March 23 rd and 24 th starting at 8:00 on both days in our cafeteria. Also, if you have, or know of a child that will be turning five on or before September 1, our Kindergarten Registration process will be taking place the week of March 6 – March 10. Please contact Mrs. Stauffer or Mrs. Thomas in our office to schedule an appointment, and we look forward to seeing our future King’s Highway kindergarteners during this important event. Our third, fourth, and fifth graders are continuing to work hard in preparation for the PSSA assessments which will begin for all students within the state of Pennsylvania on April 4 th . I know our students will do their very best, and will incorporate all of the knowledge and test taking skills that they have gained from their teachers since the beginning of the school year. Over the course of the next several weeks helpful hints and reminders will be sent home so that you can help prepare your child to do their best on these important assessments. Also, it is important to remember that if you are looking to schedule family vacations, doctor’s appointments, or any other activities that would keep your child from attending school, please avoid April 4 th through May 3 rd as this is our Language Arts, Math, and Science testing window. Having students arrive at school on time is also very important during these weeks. Throughout these days of testing the PTO will be providing a snack for each student every day. This is a great way to make sure that every student is getting the nutrition they need throughout the day to do their best on these important tests. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that with the arrival of Spring that the warmer temperatures will continue. I appreciate your continued support and commitment as our entire staff continues to provide the best instruction and education possible for the students of King’s Highway. GOOD CITIZENS FOR FEBRUARY

Parents are asked to remind their children

of the importance of obeying bus safety

rules while riding the bus and also at the

bus stop. The word “assigned” is an

important word as it applies to bus

procedures. Students may only ride their

“assigned” bus, must remain in their

“assigned” seat, and may load and

unload the bus only at their “assigned”

stop. Failure to comply with the bus

rules could result in a dangerous situation

for all students. Students reported for

repeated violations of the bus rules will

have their bus privileges suspended for a

period of time. Bus rules are enforced for

everyone’s safety.
