On October 11-13, iGEM 2013 Europe Regional Jamboree (International Genetically Engineered Machine), the biggest student competition in the world, was held for the first time in France. The event was organized on the LyonTech-La Doua campus by INSA Lyon in cooperation with local and national
partners. Beyond the scientific compe-tition, students and instructors of Lyon completely mobilized and coordinated to guarantee the success of the event in a festive atmosphere for the great pleasure of synthetic biologists. Recap of a weekend of competition iGEM@Lyon.

Friday, October 11th – Reception in Lyon.
Saturday, October 12th – Opening ceremony : official launch of the 2013 Europe Regional Jamboree !
Reception of the teams in music with the "Fanfare Piston", Ecole Centrale Lyon’s brass band.
With the presence of Roger Genet, representing Mrs Geneviève Fioraso, French Minister for Higher Education and Research.
With 4 parallel sessions within 5 presentation rooms, each team had 25 minutes to present their project and answerto questions in front of the judges.
On the program: the first informal awards ceremony, DJ and dance floor to relax and have fun together.
Saturday, October 12th – A succession of high-level presentations.
Saturday, October 12th – Social event on the Rhône after an intense day of presentations.
Sunday, October 13th – iGEM from above : the photo and the first iGEM Flashmob – only seen in Lyon.
At INSA Lyon, we rose up into the air with high-tech devices to arouse enthusiasm and capture every moment.
