Overhauling instructions

About the Overhauling instructionsThe aim of the instructions is to provide you with knowledge of how to make basic overhauling of the LWP 2 water pump.

Only qualified and trained persons may operate or maintain the pump. Use only authorized parts. Any damage or malfunction caused by unauthorized parts will not be covered by the Warranty or Product Liability.

For major service to the pump, contact your nearest authorized Atlas Copco workshop.

using the special tools when repairing the LWP 2 water pump will ensure a quick, smooth and precise mounting of seals and bearings without any damage. However, repair can also be done with similar tools made locally (see below sketches):

Disassembly - assembly

1. Disassembly: Dismount the four M6x25 insex screws and washers. Assembly: Use the reverse order - and remember to place 2 x washers at the insex screws

2. Disassembly: Dismount the hydraulic motor. Assembly: Mount the hydraulic motor and make sure that the motor shaft fits into the coupling shaft

3. Disassembly: Remove the coupling "dog shaft". Assembly: Mount the coupling "dog shaft" and make sure it fits into the shaft

4. Disassembly: Dismount the four cap screws M6x20 and washers. Assembly: Use the reverse order - and remember to place 2 x washers at the cap screws

5. Disassembly: Dismount the bearing housing from the pump housing. If necessary, use a soft hammer to loosen. Assembly: Place the gasket between the bearing and the pump housing

6. Disassembly: Remove the bearing housing. Assembly: Place the bearing housing

7. Disassembly: To keep the shaft in place, the special spanner (service tool) can be used. Alternatively, a screwdriver can be used to hold the blade. Assembly: Use the reverse order

8. Disassembly: Remove the insex screw M8x16 and the washer from the blade. Assembly: Mount the insex screw M8x16 and the washer (use Loctite or similar)

9. Disassembly: Remove the blade by using two screwdrivers or a puller. Assembly: Mount the blade and ensure correct fitting (key) at the shaft

10. Disassembly: Remove the circlip J47 from the bearing housing. Assembly: Mount the circlip J47 into the bearing housing

11. Disassembly: Remove the water protection seal. Assembly: Mount the water protection seal

12. Disassembly: Remove the circlip J47, below the water protection seal, from the bearing housing. Assembly: Mount the circlip J47 into the bearing housing

13. Disassembly: Remove the bearing carefully by means of a mandrel and a hammer. Assembly: Mount the bearing carefully into the bearing housing

14. Disassembly: Remove the roll pin ø3x20 with a punch. Assembly: Mount the roll pin ø3x20 with a hammer

15. Disassembly: Mount the seal retainer with the lip seal onto the shaft by using mandrel for lip seal (service tool 3376 7184 35) to ensure that the lip seal is mounted without any damage. Assembly: Remove the seal retainer with lip seal

16. Disassembly: Remove the high-pressure lip seal from the seal retainer by means of a screwdriver or similar. Assembly: Mount the lip seal into the seal retainer by means of a mandrel ø30 (service tool) or similar

17. Disassembly: Remove the circlip A20 from the shaft upper part above the bearing ø20 high-pressure. Assembly: Mount one circlip A20 above the bearing ø20 high-pressure. The mandrel ø20.6 (service tool) is useful for mounting O-rings onto the shaft

18. Disassembly: Turn the shaft and bearing around and remove the circlip A20. Assembly: Turn the shaft and bearing around and mount the circlip A20. The mandrel ø20.6 (service tool) is useful for mounting O-rings onto the shaft

19. Disassembly: Remove the bearing ø20 high-pressure with light strokes from a soft hammer. Assembly: Mount the shaft into the ø20 bearing with light strokes from a soft hammer. Secure fully back up of the bearing when mounting the shaft
