Transcript of LVT Design - Ways To Deal With Misbehavior
Misbehavior and behavior problems can arise because students feel frustrated and bored in school.
Instructional programs that actively involve students can prevent such problems.
Another common reason students misbehave is because they want the teacher's attention.
A calm teacher will deal
more effectively with
the problem and will
encourage the child to
stay calm too.
Stay calm
Make them decideKeep reminding your children that they have a choice at every stage.
If they decide to repeat the misbehavior they will earn a higher level of
consequences. Make it clear that it’s the behavior, and not the child, that
is being disciplined.
Don’t rise to the baitMuch misbehavior is designed to get a rise out of the teacher. If you refuse to rise to the bait of a child whose aim it is to wind you up, the tactic becomes meaningless and a waste of time.
Visual and verbal cuesBy using body gestures, calling child’s name and give some question
Increased Teacher ProximityBringing the child closer, instead of going to the child
Logical ConsequencesLogical consequences are relevant (directly related to the misbehavior), realistic (something the child can reasonably be expected to do and that the teacher can manage with a reasonable amount of effort), and respectful (communicated kindly and focused on the misbehavior, not the child's character or personality).
NOTDon’t make Un-logical Consequences
Don’t make them embarrassed
Don’t lecture, scold, or yell
Don’t judge your students
Don’t hold a grudge (“Every day is a new day”)
