Lutron Connected Startup Service
The LTE Modem is a cellular modem that provides Lutron connected start-up service to a Lutron lighting system via an Ethernet connection. It provides system connectivity to Lutron cloud services, which enables a suite of features. With this device, Lutron and the system installer are able to work closely together to ensure system readiness for startup and programming services. It provides a connection for real-time system updates and enables simple connectivity for the Lighting Designer and Space Manager apps.

System Communication
• The LUT-LTE-1 provides connection to the internet and is intended to give the Lutron Athena system access to the internet over a dedicated copper network. This device should never be connected the customer network or to non-Lutron approved devices.

Mounting
• Surface- or wall-mount using the supplied mounting bracket and wall anchors. Mount only were approved personnel have access to the modem
• Must be mounted in a location where Verizon coverage is available with a minimum of (3) LTE signal quality bars lit.
Wiring
• A receptacle is required to be installed within 5 ft (1.5 m) of the modem or passive remote power adapter to power the LUT-LTE-1
• Use Cat5e minimum Ethernet cable • Maximum length is 328 ft (100 m)
Cellular
• Verizon Wireless coverage service only• LUT-LTE-1 is provided with a cellular connection for
the duration of start-up. • Cellular service will be disconnected by Lutron
30 days after start-up is complete • The modem can be powered down and discarded
once the system is connected to the building network.
Notes
• The modem, Athena Edge processors and Clear Connect gateways must be installed and powered before on-site commissioning can occur. Connectivity of these devices will be checked remotely by Lutron services before the on-site visit occurs.
• A maximum of 16 Lutron devices (Athena processors plus Clear Connect Gateways–Type X) can be connected to a single LUT-LTE-1
• LUT-LTE-1 can be mounted up to 328 ft (100 m) away from any one lighting hub
• Modem configuration is remotely managed by Lutron
• After system startup is complete the customer is responsible for connecting the lighting system to the building network. For additional information on how to connect the system to the building network, please read the Athena IT Guide (P/N 040453) at www.lutron.com
• The networked Lutron devices are setup by default with DHCP addresses. If static addresses are required, this must be communicated to Lutron services at the time of system startup. Changing from DHCP addresses to static addresses after startup is complete, requires an on-site service visit that must be scheduled with Lutron.

Choosing a Location to Install
To determine the best mounting location (based on optimal signal strength), perform a site survey using the LUT-LTE-1. Use the included battery pack to power the device and wait for the blue, blinking LED to confirm LTE connectivity. The battery pack is not rechargeable and will power the LUT-LTE-1 for approximately 2 hours.
• Move the LUT-LTE-1 to different locations within the jobsite to determine the best balance between signal strength and installation constraints. Since cellular signal strengths fluctuate, it is important to wait at each location for 1 minute while observing the cellular strength LED indicators on the front of the LUT-LTE-1.
• MInimum cellular strength is 3 bars illuminated on the front of the LUT-LTE-1. Failure to have 3 bars of cellular strength may result in an unreliable internet connection which may impact startup / service / support.
• Verify that the installation location does not violate any security or facility policies.• Mount at least 6 ft (2 m) away from any other WiFi devices such as access points or routers.
