The proposed building plays an active role in the master plan for West Lund and the project to connect East and West Lund in a creative and effective manner. On the north side it forms a new public square warmed by south and west sun bounded by the entrance building to new city hall that gives social focus to the locale. The new bridge across the railway delivers to a smaller public square on top of the entrance building, with a shape that echoes the plan forms intended in the north.

The facades consist of deep brick fins that provide passive solar control and a module on which the interior can be laid out with flexibility. To provide variety and scale they are designed as an assembly of different parts like the buildings opposite in East Lund with an attic that modulates the roof-line and a clock to emphasise the corner.

The building takes its place in the cityscape of West Lund with its variety of heights and styles. A landscaped bridge across the railway, like the High Line in Manhattan, will be a place that is delightful for cycling and sitting. In our scheme the greenery of West Lund extends over the bridge to East Lund, and the formal architecture of East Lund crosses to West Lund.
