Hello Shanghai Centre Residents, Tenants, and Guests!

I hope everyone had a fantastic summer! This is the first time I am writing in the Shanghai Centre magazine. After spending my first eight years with Shanghai Centre as the Financial Controller, I am very excited to take up the role of Leasing Director. In my new role I will continue working toward making Shanghai Centre the best place to live, work and to visit – fully embracing our motto: Life at your doorstep.

We will soon see many exciting additions to the Shanghai Centre culinary offerings.You will no longer need to fly to France to have a taste of great French pastry or have to stroll the streets of Hong Kong to get a taste of Cantonese. Angelina and Starz Kitchen will be right at your doorstep. We will even save you a trip to Japan for some great Teppanyaki as Ubuka will open soon too! Additionally there are plenty of options to stay fit and active at Shanghai Centre. There are yoga classes by lululemon, fitness classes by FitBody, fresh, detox drinks from VCLEANSE, healthy and vegetarian cuisine from Pure & Whole and Element Fresh, and health and fitness supplements from WHS.

We have also started a Shanghai Centre Wechat to share some of the new happenings, events, and special offerings inside the complex. Now at Shanghai Centreululemon athletica recently opened their Shanghai Centre showroom and from the get-go have become an integral part of the community. Chip Wilson, who had spent 20 years in the surf, skate and snowboard business, opened the first lululemon athletica store in Vancouver, Canada in 2000. From the beginning the concept was to have the store be a "community hub" where people interested in living long, healthy and fun lives could meet and discuss everything from yoga to the "mental aspects of living a powerful life of possibilities." The brand has grown world-wide and is now synonymous with fitness, yoga and a healthy, active life style, as well as for their athletic wear. The lululemon athletica Shanghai Centre showroom carries forward their tradition of positively influencing, not only each person that walks into their showroom, but also that person's family, friends and community. A happy and healthy community is good for everyone and their mantra "We are passionate about sweating everyday and we want the world to know it!" speaks volumes about the mindset of the people who work in the company. For each community lululemon also has an ambassador program. Unique individuals who exemplify the lululemon lifestyle and are also engaged with and passionate about their local community are valued for their involvement and for their dedication to their area of expertise. The Shanghai Centre showroom is managed by Jennifer Han, a lovely young woman with a huge smile and outgoing personality. She bustles with positive energy and she and her team have

Lululemon usually enters a community as a showroom with limited opening hours. This gives their team a chance to meet up with locals to gauge how they can best be a benefit to the community. If all goes according to plan the showroom then expands into a full blown shop, offering active women and men the very best in athletic gear for yoga, running and working out. Alex De Ceuster is Shanghai Centre's Marketing Director and is very pleased lululemon has become a member of their community. Another SMASH BBQ! Hundreds of people enjoyed another great Shanghai Centre BBQ bash. Weather was perfect as residents dined, danced and enjoyed the evening under a clear, star lit sky. The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai outdid themselves again this year with a crazy delicious BBQ spread. El Ray and Studio 188 rocked with an eclectic mix of summer time favorites. And to top it all off the winner of the evening's lucky draw walked off with business class tickets courtesy of Turkish Airlines.

Family Fun RunPouring rain could not stop the more than 50 ShanghaiCentre staff and residents who joined the More Than Aware Family Fun Run. The event was held in Century Park in Pudong and had more than 5000 women, men and children decked out in hot pink and green to raise awareness for breast cancer. The event was a huge success and Shanghai Centre was proud to be a part of it.

Giving backShanghai Centre is pleased to announce that during an afternoon piano concert by Sophie Leacacos, the collected donations were sufficient to sponsor a life-saving heart surgery for two children through the Heart to Heart Shanghai Foundation. Also, together with the team of The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai, over 200 Vahlrona banana chocolate cakes were sold to support Operation Smile Project. And there was another clothes drive for River of Hearts, who collect goods for underprivileged communities in poor provinces.

Hong Kong Super Stars Alan Tam and Hacken Lee are not only famous for their popular songs, they are also well known gourmets. The Super Stars have opened their first flagship shop in Shanghai at Shanghai Centre in August. Wonton noodles, congee, dim sum and Guangdong roasted meat are always crowd favorites. The queues might be long but it is worth the wait.

Five weeks of fun!

Kids had tons of fun in the Shanghai Centre five-week-long summer camp in the 8F preschool playroom. Activities included arts and crafts, snack making, science experiments and field trips. While the kids became fast friends and loved their three camp counselors, their parents were also very happy with the summercamp program. Everyone will keep fond memories of this summer's camp as they look forward to next year's adventures!
