Ardipithecus ramidus

pertenecientes a unos 35 individuos.
El más completo es una hembra
de un metro veinte y unos 50 kilos,
que han apodado Ardi (ARA-VP-6/500).
Los restos fueron descubiertos en
Etiopía, en una barranca del río
Awash.

Ardipithecus ramidus skull
• small endocranial capacity
(300-350 cubic centimeters)
• small cranial size
relative to body size
• considerable midfacial
projection

Australopithecus afarensis» » The only singular
commonality between Lucy and modern humans is that
» they are both are bipedal.

Changes in skull:from Australopithecus afarensis to Homo sapiens
• The capacity of the cranium increased
(to accommodate the growth of the brain)• the face flattened• the chin receded• the size of the teeth decreased
![Page 37: Luis Galanes- Record PaleoantropolóGico](https://reader035.fdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062709/558e1d871a28abc45b8b47bb/html5/thumbnails/37.jpg)
A good indication of intelligence is brain weight in relation to body weight
Mammal Body weight
Brain weight How much of the animal is
its brain?
Blue whale 60 000 kg 6kg 0.01%
Lion 200 kg 200g 0.1%
Rat 200g 3g 1.5%
Human 70 kg 1.3 kg 1.9%

Primera salida: H. erectus (2 mya)
Segunda salida: H. sapiens arcáico (60,000 ya)
• GREAT LEAP FORWARD: Arte (40,000 ya – H. sapiens)
• Revolución del Neolítico
![Page 40: Luis Galanes- Record PaleoantropolóGico](https://reader035.fdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062709/558e1d871a28abc45b8b47bb/html5/thumbnails/40.jpg)
Great Leap Forward40,000 ya
