EXT. PARIS STREET VENDOR SHOPPING STRIP - DAY

LUCY, early 20s, relatively quiet but sarcastic,

pretty, strolls through the street, browsing each stand.

The things that catch her eye are a sketchpad that has "one

is not born a woman, one becomes one," a string of beads and

sequins and a glass necklace.

LUCY

Wow, these are gorgeous.

VENDOR 1

For a gorgeous young lady.

LUCY

You’re too kind. Look at the

markings on this necklace.

VENDOR

It’s hand carved. I did it myself.

LUCY

No way! Wow, that’s awesome. My

friend back in New York will adore

this! Is anything else handmade?

VENDOR 2

Sweetie, all of the stuff we sell

is hand crafted. The journal you

have in your hands, was dyed and

bound by my daughter. She’ll be

very happy to know it sold.

LUCY

That’s incredible. There really are

some amazing pieces here.

VENDOR 2

That’s because they have heart. I

put a little bit of my soul into

everything I make. Staying in Paris

long?

LUCY

No, actually it’s my last day. I

fly home tomorrow.

VENDOR 1

But the city is so beautiful. Stay

longer. There’s more to France than

Paris.

LUCY

I would love to, but I have

something waiting for me in

America.

VENDOR 1

A boyfriend?

LUCY

No, a business.

VENDOR 1

If that’s where your heart lies. Be

safe, and come back to France very

soon.

EXT. AIRPORT TERMINAL - DAY

LUCY stands on the sidewalk, flipping through a magazine,

designer luggage by her side. Dressed to impress - big

sunglasses, heels, a flowing sundress.

LUCY

That would look pretty, if only the

pattern was on both sides... and

that dress would be perfect, if it

was a different color.

LUCY rips out a page and puts it in her purse. On a stand

close by, Lucy sees a magazine with her parents’ name on it.

LUCY grabs the magazine and flips to the page about The

Blakes’ Real Estate Company. It made the Top 10 List of most

successful businesses in New York and Lucy is expected to

take over.

LUCY

Of course. So excited.

DRIVER arrives in a black luxury car.

DRIVER

Good morning and welcome back Miss

Blake. Let me take your things.

LUCY

It’s okay, I got it.

LUCY puts her luggage in the trunk and opens the passenger

door before DRIVER is able to do it for her.

BLAKES’ HOUSE - SAME DAY

The car enters a gated community and parks in front of an

all-white mansion. Inside the house are tall ceilings,

marble counters, big rooms, glass chandeliers - clearly the

Blakes are filthy rich.

INT. BLAKES’ DEN - SAME DAY

IAN is in the den, playing a violent video game on a big

screen TV.

IAN

Oh look, the princess of Blake Real

Estate is home; too soon if you ask

me.

LUCY

But no one did. It’s so great

seeing you too.

INT. LUCY’S ROOM - SAME DAY

LUCY reads the note on her desk that reads: "So close to

closing a deal on a beach house in Miami. We had to leave on

short notice. Can’t wait to see you. Soon you’ll be going to

these meetings, and we’ll be on vacation! Love Mom and Dad"

LUCY opens the door to her closet, and drops her bags

inside. Her closet is the size of a luxurious one bedroom

apartment. From the ceiling to the floor are shelves of

shoes, purses, dresses and jewelry. In the closet’s sitting

area, LUCY lays down on the couch, and takes a deep breath.

LUCY

Home sweet home.

A text message appears on Lucy’s phone from JASMINE: Welcome

back babe! Partying at Manhattan Melt this weekend! Then the

Blake Real Estate fashion show and gala! Just like old

times!

LUCY

Just like old times. Just like

always.

LUCY calls CAMILLE, but gets her voice mail.

Page 5: LUCY COUTURE

INT. LUCY’S CLOSET - THE NEXT DAY

JASMINE ORTIA, early 20s, talkative and bubbly, sweet girl

next door, almost annoying, browses the racks in LUCY’s

closet, pulling out possible dresses wrapped in plastic and

throwing them onto the couch. LUCY sits on the ground, a big

box of chocolates nearby.

JASMINE

Wow, this dress is amazing! I’ve

never seen you wear it.

LUCY

Yeah, I had it custom made a couple

months ago, but I wasn’t here, so I

haven’t worn it yet. I’m about to

eat all the Belgian chocolates I

got you.

JASMINE

Well it’s gorgeous. Lucy, you

should wear it to the melt!

LUCY

Jas, why don’t you wear it?

LUCY gets up and goes to a jewelry display, picking up a

necklace.

LUCY

Here. I made this necklace

specifically for the dress. Try it

on. It’ll look amazing on you!

At the triple mirror, on a platform reminiscent of a bridal

store’s dressing room, JASMINE looks at her reflection in

awe.

JASMINE

Wow, I love it! You’re like McQueen

in the making!

LUCY

McQueen? Ha, not even close! Just

put your hair down in a waterfall

of curls, or pull half of it back

loosely and wear diamond stud

earrings.

JASMINE

You’re more like Rachel Zoe. You

have the vision. Wait, what are you

gonna wear?

Page 6: LUCY COUTURE

CONTINUED: 5.

LUCY

Rachel Zoe? If only! I don’t know,

I’m not that worried. I’m sure I’ll

find something. Have you seen

Camille lately? I called her

yesterday, but nothing.

LUCY grabs the glass necklace from the jewelry display.

LUCY

I saw this necklace in Paris and

thought she’d love it.

Sunlight shines through the window and the glass beads

twinkle.

JASMINE

Yeah, she would. So many cuts!

LUCY

Yup, 500 total. I mean it doesn’t

sparkle like diamonds, but it was

hand carved by a woman in France.

Have you heard from Cam?

JASMINE

I mean, she’s around but I don’t

think she’s as happy to see you as

Chase. Cam’s probably worried that

you’ll bat your eyelashes and he’ll

come crawling back to you.

LUCY

I doubt it. We broke up a year ago.

It was mutual. I went to Europe for

a year, there’s no way a 6 month

relationship would survive that.

JASMINE

Maybe, but he sure spent a lot of

time missing you.

ORTIA BEACH HOUSE, MANHATTAN BEACH - A FEW DAYS LATER, NIGHT

Extravagant house on the shore of the beach, distant from

other houses. Open yard with tables and chairs, huge bar,

loud music, fire on the beach. Adults, both young and middle

aged parents are in attendance. In the center of the yard is

a huge ice sculpture - melting away in the summer heat.

IAN is at the bar alone, observing everyone.

A circle of 5 FRIENDS, all a little tipsy, take a shot of

tequila together. One FRIEND- CHASE FITZPATRICK, early 20s,

toned and tanned body, the guy everyone wants to be friends

with and parents love, takes a lime wedge out of his mouth.

His girlfriend CAMILLE COOKE, early 20s, blond with an

attitude, gives him a quick peck on the lips. She tries to

put her arms around his waist but he resists.

CHASE

Oh man, love me some Mexican water.

LUCY walks by and Chase grabs her arm.

CHASE

Come on Lucy, take one with us!

Lucy sees her parents nearby in conversation with 3 other

ADULTS. She pulls away from CHASE.

LUCY

You guys take one, and I’ll catch

up later.

LUCY walks by CAMILLE’s MOM - KENDRA COOKE, a tall, blond

woman in her late 50s, all business demeanor in mid

conversation with 2 PARENTS.

KENDRA

... exactly. So the magazine’s

second headquarters will be right

here in the city. Smaller, but I’ll

have more control. I’m even doing

some of the job interviews! I moved

a couple writers here, but I’m

still looking for another

photographer and another stylist!

LUCY catches KENDRA’s eye. She waves and smiles brightly.

KENDRA returns the gesture with a half smile and a half

wave, as she sips from her glass of wine.

LUCY

Stylist. Like Rachel Zoe. Me?

ORTIA BEACH HOUSE - BY THE BAR

LUCY catches up to HER PARENTS - MEREDITH and JONATHAN BLAKE

a couple yards away from the bar where IAN is seated. The

BLAKES are in conversation with 2 other PARENTS.

LUCY

Mom, Dad, when did you guys get

home? I didn’t think you’d be here.

JONATHAN

Just about an hour ago. We were

gonna go right home, but your

mother loves the Melt.

MEREDITH

It’s tradition, and I know how much

you love tradition! And the Ortia’s

always have the best champagne and

h’orderves! Who can say no to that?

JONATHAN

Lucy, I was just telling the

Scott’s that you’re ready to start

training for the real estate

company.

PARENT #1 - MR. SCOTT

It truly is amazing, darling.

You’re definitely going to have a

lot on your plate!

PARENT #2 - MRS. SCOTT

Maybe you can cut us a deal after

we retire and need somewhere

smaller to stay!

MEREDITH

She won’t if we teach her right!

She’s very very excited to be a

part of the family business. It’s a

dream come true for her.

MRS. SCOTT

That’s a beautiful dress you’re

wearing Lucy. What is it? Givenchy?

LUCY

Actually, it’s a Lucy original. I

designed it and had it made for a

special event like tonight.

MRS. SCOTT

Wow, that’s truly amazing dear.

MEREDITH

Isn’t it? Fashion, it’s such a

great hobby.

(CONTINUED)

Page 9: LUCY COUTURE

CONTINUED: 8.

MRS. SCOTT

With dresses like that, it doesn’t

have to be.

JONATHAN

Now, now. Don’t give her any ideas.

She belongs with us at Blake Real

Estate. It’s in her blood.

MR. SCOTT

An established success.

MEREDITH

Exactly, all we need to do is hand

over the reigns.

LUCY

But what if that someone doesn’t

want the reigns.

MEREDITH

Don’t be silly sweety. You’ve

wanted this your entire life!

LUCY

You mean your entire life.

MEREDITH

Stop saying that dear-

JONATHAN

You’re mother’s right Lucy-

LUCY

No! You guys don’t get it. I’m not

ready to take over anything. I

don’t even know if I want a part of

this.

MEREDITH

Lucy! That’s crazy talk.

LUCY

No, you making me do something I

don’t want to do is crazy. Guess

what, I don’t know a thing about

houses, nor do I want to!

MEREDITH

And what exactly is it that you

would want to do then? Pick up and

leave to South America this time?

You can’t keep running away when

MEREDITH (cont’d)things get hard. You need to make

something of yourself. Otherwise

you’ll run out of continents by the

time you’re 25.

JONATHAN sees his wife and daughter getting riled up, he

tries to intervene.

JONATHAN

Can my two favorite girls calm down

just for a minute? It’s a party,

let’s keep it that way. We can talk

later.

LUCY

Maybe I want to do something that I

actually believe in, that I can put

my heart into!

MEREDITH

Like what, the Jimmy Choos on your

feet?

LUCY

The clothes I have on! I know

designers, fabrics and trends

better than I know what makes a

good house.

MEREDITH

You’re being foolish.

LUCY

It’s what I want.

MEREDITH sighs deeply and looks away. JONATHAN grabs LUCY by

the shoulders, looking straight into her tear-filled eyes.

JONATHAN.

Sweety, if this is what you want

we’re not going to stop you. It

could be good business experience.

Go on, enjoy the party. I’ll talk

to your mother.

LUCY smiles at her father and walks off, avoiding MEREDITH.

MEREDITH

She has no idea what she’s getting

herself into.

IAN, tipsy walks over to MEREDITH and JONATHAN.

IAN

Tough break. Barely back for a week

and already starting trouble. And,

she hasn’t even seen a Real Estate

office yet. Such a great choice for

a successor.

IAN walks away, glass of whiskey in hand.

ORTIA BEACH HOUSE - COURTYARD

LUCY enters the COURTYARD where YOUNG ADULTS are drinking,

dancing and hanging out. DJ and a bar are bShe joins her

circle of FRIENDS, all tipsy.

JASMINE

Look who finally made it!

JASMINE goes in for a sloppy hug and spills a little beer.

JASMINE

Oopsies!

CHASE

Come here, welcome back Lucy! It’s

been way too long!

CHASE pulls LUCY in for a warm hug, rubs her back. CAMILLE,

a couple feet behind LUCY, is not pleased.

NOAH, early 20s, messy hair, carefree, goofball appears with

a beer in each hand.

NOAH

Lucy! You gotta catch up! Take one!

NOAH offers LUCY a beer, but she declines.

LUCY

No thanks, but I know! I need to

catch up with everyone. You have to

tell me what you’ve all been up to!

NOAH

Suit yourself.

NOAH starts dancing obnoxiously by himself.

LUCY notices CAMILLE close by.

LUCY

Oh! Cam, I actually have something

for you! You’re gonna love it!

LUCY pulls CAMILLE to the side, away from the others. She

pulls the glass necklace out of her purse.

LUCY

Here. I got it from this really

cute street vendor woman from

Paris. It’s hand carved. Look at

all the cuts and how intricate it

is! It’s fragile, but so beautiful!

CAMILLE

Wow, it really is gorgeous. You got

it for me?

LUCY

Of course. I saw it and knew you

had to have it! Things have been

kind of crazy lately, but I

definitely want to do lunch soon,

gotta catch up on a year’s worth of

stories!

CAMILLE

Yeah, definitely.

CAMILLE puts on the necklace.

LUCY

Looks amazing on you. I knew it

would! I know I just got back, but

can I ask you for a favor?

CAMILLE

What’s that?

LUCY

I overheard your mom talking about

her new Material World

headquarters. She said she’s hiring

some people ... including a

stylist. Maybe you could tell her

I’m interested and put in a good

word for me?

CAMILLE

You’re queen of the Blake Real

Estate empire. Why would you want

to work for my mother? As a

stylist?

Page 13: LUCY COUTURE

LUCY

I would much rather work with

clothes and shoes than houses.

Please?

CAMILLE

Sure. What are friends for?

LUCY

You’re the best!

LUCY pulls CAMILLE in for a hug.

LUCY

I’m actually really happy to be

home. I guess I missed all of you.

LUCY and CAMILLE join the others.

LUCY

Alright everyone, let’s take some

shots. Bring on the tequila!

Montage of the night - drinks pouring, everyone dancing,

lights, music etc. less people present as the night goes on.

Dance/party music turns into slow songs.

IAN, drunk, is seated the bar in the courtyard where a

BARTENDER, woman, mid 20s serves him.

IAN

One more of these.

BARTENDER

You haven’t even finished that one.

IAN

Well then, I guess I need your

help.

BARTENDER

I think you’re doing fine without

me.

IAN

But I’d be doing better with you.

CAMILLE takes a seat at the bar a few feet away from IAN and

puts her head on the counter.

CAMILLE

Can I have a glass of water please?

And maybe some aspirin.

The party is winding down, more people sitting than dancing.

LUCY

I think I’m ready to head home. My

head is killing me. I don’t know

how much longer I can do this. I

mean we’re not 16 anymore!

Lucy gathers her things, ready to leave the courtyard.

CHASE

Wait, Lucy, we didn’t even get to

dance! One song, before you go!

LUCY

I don’t know if that’s a good idea.

LUCY glances over to CAMILLE at the bar.

CHASE

It’s fine. It’s one dance between

good friends.

CHASE grabs LUCY’s hand and takes her onto the dance floor.

LUCY places one hand on CHASE’s shoulder, and the other in

his. CHASE places his free hand on LUCY’s waist. They dance

in a slow circle, smiling.

CHASE

I missed ya. I really did. You look

amazing tonight.

LUCY

Thanks. I missed you too. But I

needed to leave for a little bit.

CHASE

From what? You have everything and

more.

LUCY

I don’t think that’s true. I guess

I was scared. I mean everyone is

doing something they believe in.

Jasmine is working at the TV

station. Camille is at her aunt’s

PR agency.

CHASE (INTERRUPTING LUCY)

Lucy, you know what you really want

to do. It’s right here. You’re

wearing it.

CAMILLE picks her head off the counter.

CAMILLE.

I’ll be just fine.

BARTENDER

Is someone taking you home?

CAMILLE

Yeah, my boyfriend.

BARTENDER

Where is he?

IAN moves closer to CAMILLE and BARTENDER.

IAN

Looks like he’s dancing with his

ex-girlfriend.

CAMILLE, almost immediately sober looks over to CHASE and

LUCY.

CHASE moves his head closer to LUCY’s ear.

CHASE

... waiting for you?

LUCY pulls back.

LUCY

gonna be a great entreprenuer.

The song ends.

LUCY

Guess our time is up.

LUCY pulls away from CHASE, but he doesn’t let go.

At the bar CAMILLE, grinding her teeth pulls the glass

necklace off her neck and shatters it with her drinking

glass on the bar counter.

IAN

Taking a woman down is a two-person

job. Are you game?

CAMILLE

Let’s play.

INT. MATERIAL WORLD OFFICES

MATERIAL WORLD OFFICE is an open modern office space. No

cubicles but desks around the space with samples of clothes,

makeup and shoes around.

KENDRA

Lucy, what a pleasure it is to see

you.

LUCY, inside KENDRA’s OFFICE takes a seat in a white leather

chair, portfolio in hand, across from KENDRA.

LUCY

Thank you so much for seeing me on

short notice. I really owe Cam one.

KENDRA

Of course. Cam said you’re

interested in becoming a part of

the Material World family. What do

you have there?

LUCY

Yeah, um it’s a portfolio I guess.

It’s more like a compilation of

some things I’ve designed or

outfits I’ve put together.

KENDRA

A lot of it is from your parents

charity fashion show and several

other galas.

LUCY

Yeah, well I mean I guess those are

the real places I have experience

in styling others.

(CONTINUED)

Page 17: LUCY COUTURE

CONTINUED: 16.

KENDRA

Styling? You’re here for the

stylist position?

LUCY

Of course. I’m sure Cam told you.

KENDRA

No. All she said was you were

looking for employment. I was

thinking more like an assistant or

secretary or something. I didn’t

know you wanted to join Material

World as a stylist.

LUCY

Well yeah, I mean that’s what I

love to do - clothes, jewelry,

shoe, makeup. Everything.

KENDRA

Honey, I know fashion is a hobby of

yours. I’ve been to your parents’

little fashion show every year.

I’ve seen your pieces and outfits.

I can’t honestly bring you on

board. I can’t subject Material

World to someone who doesn’t have

the eye for fashion. I just don’t

think we at Material World and you

are on the same page, style wise.

LUCY

Oh I didn’t realize you felt that

way. But okay then. Thanks Kendra.

I really appreciate the opprtunity

to talk to you.

LUCY gets up, dejected and teary eyed, heads towards the

door.

KENDRA

Lucy, it’s nothing personal. It’s

just no one would pay to have your

style.

INT. THE BLAKES’ HOUSE - LATER

LUCY returns home, tail between her legs. IAN is at the

kitchen table eating cookies.

(CONTINUED)

Page 18: LUCY COUTURE

CONTINUED: 17.

IAN

So the new stylist at Material

World has returned home. How’d it

go?

LUCY

I don’t want to talk about it.

IAN

What do you mean? You got it right?

LUCY

Not exactly.

IAN

Really? You really blew the

interview? Even though Kendra is

Camille’s mom? Come on Luce, that’s

weak.

LUCY

I guess just didn’t see eye to eye.

IAN

Wow, failed an interview with your

own friend’s mom ... good thing you

don’t have an entire real estate

company waiting for you. I’m sure

you’ll do better next time. Want a

cookie?

At dinner that night all the Blakes are seated and eating.

JONATHAN

Well what happened Luce?

LUCY

Kendra didn’t give it to me. I

don’t want to talk about it.

MEREDITH

I never liked her anyway. Don’t

forget the fashion show is in a

couple weeks anyway. You’ll get

your fashion fix there. We have a

meeting with a British family

looking for a vacation home

tomorrow. You’re more than welcome

to join us.

JONATHAN

Stop it Meredith. It’s too soon to

give up Luce.

Page 19: LUCY COUTURE

MEREDITH

I just don’t know why you’re

looking for something that’s

already in front of you.

IAN looks directly at MEREDITH.

IAN

Yeah me either. You should take

your own advice.

LUCY

I think I lost my appetite. Good

night everyone.

MEREDITH

I left you some reading material.

Take a look.

LUCY excuses herself.

INT. LUCY’S ROOM

A teary eyed LUCY sprawls onto her bed and looks at the

collage of things on her wall and desk. On the desk is the

portfolio she brought to KENDRA, a mess of papers, a

calendar and a stack of real estate books. LUCY grabs the

sketchbook from France and starts doodling. Inside the

sketchbook is the string of beads from France being used as

a bookmark.

LUCY grabs a real estate book and starts flipping through

it. She gets bored easily and sighs.

The date of the fashion show gala is circled on the

calendar. LUCY shuts the real estate book shut and grabs the

string of beads from the sketchbook.

LUCY

LUCY smiles.

and seating charts around her.

lawn mower outside is audible through the open window. LUCY

walks over in an attempt to shut it, but notices the man

mowing the lawn, JESSE, early 20s, muscular, tan, easy on

the eyes.

LUCY

Are you new here?

JESSE

You must be Lucy. Your parents just

added me to the crew Guess the

other guys just aren’t doing the

job right.

LUCY

You sure don’t look like any of the

yard workers I’ve seen around here.

JESSE

Because I’m not just a yard worker!

I do some electric work and

construction too. That or because

I’m 10 times better looking?

LUCY

10 might be pushing it, but I just

meant that you’re younger.

JESSE

23, still looking for a purpose and

direction ... so here I am for now.

What about you, Miss Blake?

LUCY

It’s Lucy. Come inside for a drink

when you’re done and then I’ll tell

you.

LUCY shuts the window and smiles as she gets back to work.

INT. THE BLAKES’ HOUSE, KITCHEN - LATER

LUCY and JESSE have a glass of lemonade at the island.

JESSE

An entire fashion show, you?

LUCY

Yup. I told my mother I was taking

over the annual charity show. I

help out every year, but this year

it’s gonna be my show.

LUCY

here.

LUCY

Oh don’t worry, I’ll be working you

to the bone.

MONTAGE - SHOPS, BLAKES’ HOUSE, COURTYARD VENUE, MANHATTAN

OUTDOORS, TAXIS

Montage of LUCY with the help of JASMINE and JESSE meeting

with clients, models, boutiques, looking at clothes and

jewelry, looking at the venue - the whole 9 yards of event

planning.

LUCY, JESSE and JASMINE are having lunch outdoors at a

Mediterranean restaurant right by the sidewalk. CAMILLE and

CHASE walk by. CAMILLE has shopping bags in hand, sunglasses

covering her eyes. CHASE and CAMILLE notice JESSE, a fresh

face.

CAMILLE

Oh my god, Luce! How are you? I

haven’t seen you since Melt!

LUCY

Hey, it’s good seeing you too! What

have you been up to?

CAMILLE

You know, the usual.

CAMILLE shows off her shopping bags.

CHASE

Yeah, making me buy her stuff.

What’s all the stuff you have here

Luce?

LUCY

Oh, I’m taking control of the

fashion show this year and it’s

definitely a lot of work. But Jas

about the Material World thing. I

don’t know how you couldn’t have

gotten it! You know Kendra, she can

be hard sometimes.

LUCY

It’s okay. I know you did all you

could, and I appreciate that. But

it’s over now, so I have to focus

on the show. It’s gonna be better

than all the ones before.

CAMILLE

Let me make it up to you. Add my

mom to the list of guests!

LUCY

What? She hardly ever comes! She’s

usually away I thought?

CAMILLE

No, I’ll make sure she comes, I

promise.

INT. BLAKES’ HOME - THAT NIGHT

LUCY, all dressed up comes down the stairs with her master

binder of all things fashion show related in hand. IAN is in

the den watching TV.

IAN

Did Narnia finally decide to take

you back?

LUCY

Hilarious. No, I’m going on a date.

IAN

With the yard guy? Our parents will

LUCY (cont’d)so therefore it’s not my business

is it? Just my pleasure.

The doorbell rings.

LUCY

That’s my cue. Can you do me a

favor and make sure mom sees this?

I just want her to go through it

tonight and make sure everything is

in place for next week.

LUCY places the binder on the counter and walks out the door

with JESSE.

IAN

And this is my cue.

IAN grabs his phone and dials CAMILLE’s number.

IAN

Game on.

CAMILLE

Already?

IAN

Tomorrow, we’re making calls.

EXT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT

LUCY and JESSE walk out of the restaurant, bid goodbye to

the hostess and walk outside.

JESSE

I’m glad you decided to come out

with me tonight.

JESSE puts his arm around LUCY.

LUCY

Why wouldn’t I? You and Jasmine

too, have been such an amazing help

with this crazy show. It’s nice to

relax a little

JESSE

Is that all?

LUCY

You know it isn’t. I’m very glad

you and I crossed paths.

LUCY looks up at JESSE and they kiss.

INT. IAN’S ROOM - THE NEXT DAY

CAMILLE and IAN are both on their phones, LUCY’s binder in

their hands.

IAN (ON THE PHONE)

Yes, Vellagio Courtyard? This is

Ian. Yup, Blake. I’m sorry but we

have to cancel our reservation for

next week. We’re changing the date

of the show... yes, I apologize for

the inconvenience.

CAMILLE crosses the word VENUE off a list.

CAMILLE (ON THE PHONE)

Hi this is Camy, part of the Blake

Real Estate group. I know we’re

borrowing a few things from you for

the fashion show, but I wanted to

let you know we won’t be needing it

anymore. We have a shortage or

models and overbooked clothes. I’m

so sorry to do this, but I have no

choice.

IAN crosses off BEAUTIQUE-STYLES off the list.

EXT. NEW YORK - A FEW DAYS LATER

LUCY, JASMINE and JESSE walk into various locations, all

relevant to the fashion show.

Outside the VELLAGIO COURTYARD, LUCY’s face flares at the

reception desk.

LUCY

WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT WAS CANCELLED?

WE HAVE THE SHOW HERE EVERY YEAR.

JASMINE

AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ALREADY

REBOOKED IT?

LUCY, in furious tears and breathing heavily leaves the

scene as JESSE tries to talk to the MAN at the front desk.

At various boutiques LUCY is denied and gets more upset.

LUCY

WHAT IS GOING ON? I HAD EVERYTHING

DONE, I KNOW I DID.

JASMINE and JESSE make several calls, all with the same

result.

INT. LUCY’S BEDROOM

LUCY, in tears sits cross-legged on her bed, with JASMINE

and JESSE consoling her.

LUCY

I can’t have screwed up this entire

show. It’s on my shoulders. We do

it every year and it’s amazing. How

did this happen!? I need to call my

mom. She’ll figure this out. She

can pull strings.

LUCY picks up her phone.

JASMINE

Wait, we can figure this out.

JESSE

Lucy, come on. We’re gonna make

this happen.

LUCY

The show is next week! How are we

going to get a venue to fit

hundreds of people, tones of new

clothes and a stage?

JESSE looks out the window.

JESSE

I know the perfect venue, stage and

all. Right here. When the pool is

covered in glass it’ll be a perfect

runway.

JASMINE

Oh my god, yes! Lucy! You’re entire

closet is full of clothes that are

dying to be worn!

LUCY

You guys are crazy. This will never

work.

JESSE

Yes it will. We’ll make it work.

JASMINE

We’re doing this together, it’s

gonna happen, if you’re in.

LUCY

You guys are crazy. You want to

pull this off in less than a week?

I guess it’s a good thing I’m crazy

too. Let’s do it.

INT. LUCY’S BEDROOM - THE EVENING BEFORE THE SHOW

LUCY dials numbers, confirming caterers and guests. She

compiles lists and organizes dresses on a rack, preparing

everything for the show.

EXT. BLAKES’ HOUSE - BACKYARD

The Blakes’ extensive backyard has been transformed into an

elegant courtyard. There are mini bars, white chairs around

the glass covered pool.

LUCY is on stage behind a mic stand.

LUCY

Thank you everyone for coming! All

the money raised tonight is going

to charity as per usual and tonight

we’re hoping to do even better than

last year!

LUCY pauses.

LUCY

This year is a special show. Not

only is it at our house this year,

but the dresses are all up for

silent auction. So if anyone sees

something they like, feel free.

Let’s get started!

Gorgeous girls walk the pool-runway in stylish street casual

wear, business casual wear and elegant evening wear. The

crowd cheers especially loud during the evening wear. The

models walk out in extravagant gowns, embellished with

jewels and intricate embroidery, escorted by handsome men in

tuxedos. During the finale all the girls and guys stand on

the edge of the pool. Fireworks go off in the background,

the center of the pool/runway opens and a small, tiered

waterfall emerges. The entire crowd gives a standing

ovation.

CAMILLE and IAN remain, seated separately, stay seated and

sink lower.

The guests of the fashion show head to the bar areas, tables

and dance floor while staff moves the audience chairs.

BACKSTAGE, LUCY is with JESSE, JASMINE, CHASE, CAMILLE and

her PARENTS.

JONATHAN

Wow honey, this was amazing. We’re

you planning on having it here all

along? You kept it a secret so

well. And it’s a great image for

potential clients. Good looks,

Luce!

MEREDITH

Your father’s right, dear. The show

really was wonderful, better than

any other year. And those were all

your dresses? They are absolutely

gorgeous.

LUCY

Yeah they were, and thanks, Mom.

Really.

The BLAKES walk off.

LUCY excitedly skips towards her friends.

LUCY

WE DID IT!

JESSE

I told you we’d make it happen!

LUCY and JESSE hug.

JASMINE

I knew it’d be perfect!

CHASE pulls LUCY aside.

CHASE

The show really was amazing, Luce.

Congratulations. I’ve told you

forever that you should show people

the dresses you make/design and now

you have. You took control of the

show. You can take it further.

CAMILLE comes over and grabs CHASE’s arm.

CAMILLE

Babe, can you come with me to get

my jacket, I’m a little cold. By

the way Luce, it was a really great

show. (CAMILLE smiles through

pursed lips)

Later, when everyone is seated at their tables, LUCY returns

to the stage dressed in an original gown, with the string of

beads from France down her back. She stands at the mic stand

with an envelope in hand.

LUCY

Thank you so much everyone for

coming tonight. Several dresses

have been auctioned off as well,

and we’ve raised at least 250,000

dollars tonight, more than any

other year!

LUCY takes a deep breath.

LUCY

And, this show was actually the

first showcase of my new project.

All of these dresses are designs

from my new line, and there’s so

much more to come!

The entire crowd cheers and gives her another standing

ovation.

EXT. BLAKE’S HOUSE - LATER

As the guests are leaving, they shake hands with Lucy,

saying goodbye and good luck.

KENDRA COOKE is on her way out with her HUSBAND, trying to

avoid LUCY.

HUSBAND

Goodbye Luce, lovely show.

LUCY

What did you think Mrs. Cooke?

KENDRA

It was cute. Good night.

LUCY

Turns out a few people would buy my

style, $250,000 worth of it. Night.

When the majority of guests have left, IAN is by the bar,

his head on the table. LUCY approaches as the BARTENDER

begins cleaning up.

LUCY

May I just have a glass of water?

BARTENDER

Of course. Great show tonight by

the way.

LUCY

Thank you. Can I actually have that

bucket of ice before you get rid of

it?

BARTENDER

Sure.

The BARTENDER hands her a bucket of ice and continues to

gather bottles and glasses.

LUCY pours the bucket of ice over IAN’s head and he jumps,

shocked by the cold.

LUCY

You’re bed’s inside princess. And

thank you.

IAN

For what?

LUCY

Trying to ruin the show, because it

turned out absolutely amazing.

INT. THE BLAKES’ HOUSE - LATER

MEREDITH leans against the island in the kitchen, wine glass

in hand.

MEREDITH

Lucy and everyone are out on the

balcony, why don’t you join them?

IAN

I think I’ve had enough fun

tonight; I’d rather go to bed.

MEREDITH

Your father says you could be a

great businessman. I’d believe it

if you didn’t spend all your time

trying to sabotage your sister.

Goodnight, dear.

MEREDITH places her empty glass in the kitchen sink and

leaves the room.

IAN

You’re right, goodnight. But

sabotage is its own business.

IAN looks out the window to the BALCONY where LUCY and

FRIENDS are, drinks in hand.

EXT. BLAKES BALCONY - SAME TIME

JASMINE

To a very, very successful night.

CHASE

A perfect welcome back for you

Lucy.

JESSE

And to the adventure ahead.

LUCY

To all of us. Every step of the

way.

The group of 6 FRIENDS raise and clink their champagne

filled glasses.

END.
