The DirectorJaipuria, Lucknow is led by Prof. Subrata Chkraborty who has spent as many as 31 years in two of the leading institutes in this country. He has been a full time faculty at NITIE, Mumbai for 11 years; and at IIM, Lucknow, for 20 years since the inception of IIML. In addition, he taught as visiting faculty in institutes like, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research, VJTI etc.

His contributions have been well recognized in these institutes as he is not only a popular teacher, but has also held several positions of significance like, Director-In-Charge, Dean, Chairman, Post Graduate Programmes, etc. Prof. Chakraborty has been on the boards of many institutions, including IIM Lucknow; and Director on the Board of several companies, including PSUs. He chairs couple of national committees and has been a member of the Indian Delegation to the ISO Technical Committee meetings for almost a decade which he has been heading since 2007. Prof. Chakraborty is a well known researcher, and has received several international citations and awards. Some of his work is quoted in the text books written by world-renowned authors.

It is that time of the year again when corporates visit academic campuses to augment their managerial manpower needs. With about 2200 management institutions in the country, majority of which are approved by the AICTE, recruiting organizations are often in a fix where to go and where not. Tendency is to latch on to the established brand names and/or limit the list of institutions to be visited to the top 50 B-Schools in the country. Happily, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknowqualifies on both these counts. Admission Process

EligibilityThe programmes at Jaipuria, Lucknow are targeted at individuals with high potential for success in business and industry. To be eligible for admission to Jaipuria, Lucknow a student must have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (under 10+2+3 system) with atleast 50 % aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from a University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities / AICTE.

Candidates appearing in the final year of their bachelor’s degree are also eligible, provided they complete all formalities of their examination prior to 30th June, 2011.

Selection ProcessAdmissions are made on the basis of merit, based on:

• Valid score in the written admission test CAT/MAT/XAT/ATMA (GMAT for foreign students).• Past academic record / work experience• Performance in Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

The Academic calendar, which normally runs from June to April, is based on the Trimester system, with the first three Trimesters being followed by a compulsory summer assignment. The next three Trimesters conclude the course. Each Trimester normally runs for 12 to 13 weeks.

The curriculum is based on a system of full or half credit courses, each comprising of 30 hours and 15 hours of class room interactions respectively.

Assignments, Quizzes, class participation, Project work / Term paper and of course the mid & end Trimester exams, all form part of the continuous evaluation process.

The Examination process is fair, objective and very stringent.

We expect our students to attend all classes and all after - class activities like Guest Lectures, Seminars etc.

We also lay great emphasis on values and conduct and therefore do not tolerate unacceptable behaviour and conduct.

Contemporary SyllabusThe programme is designed in the context of the ever evolving business landscape. Syllabi is made to be contemporary by seeking inputs from industry doyens on a regular basis and blending it with delivery in the classes. The teaching pedagogy adopted by Jaipuria, Lucknow challenges, excites, and leads the students to dream big, sharpen their analytical skills and gain endurance to face the complex reality of life. They learn to formulate strategies but with an eye for detail to make it happen. It also enhances the much needed people skills to save the student from becoming a solo genius. The focus on business ethics and human value enrich their ‘Aim of Life’. At Jaipuria, in order to impart best knowledge,classroom sessions, exercises, project studies, role plays, case studies, simulation games, brainstorming sessions, software applications, presentations are used as methods of teaching.

Industrial VisitsIn order to supplement the theoretical knowledge with practical inputs, regular industrial exposure is made available through industrial visits and sharing of practical experiences with professionals from the industry/corporate world. We believe that theory without practice is like letters without spirit. But we also, believe that practice without theory is doing without knowing. Our teaching is thus, based on the principle that both theory and practice are essential for complete understanding. Some organizations where our students have gone for Industrial visits are Maruti Udyog Ltd, Kajaria Tiles, Tata Motors, LML, Indo Gulf Fertilisers, BHEL etc.

InternshipAfter the completion of the first year, students are required to undergo two months of rigorous training in reputed organisations on specific assignments. The Summer Training is an integral part of the PGDM programme and aims at achieving the following objectives:

• Application of knowledge and techniques learnt in the first year to real life problem solving and to test out and enrich one’s understanding, knowledge and skills.

• Gaining deeper understanding in specific functional areas.

• Appreciating the linkages among different functions and developing a realistic managerial perspective about organisations in their totality.

Live Projects: In addition to the many academic projects, students often get opportunities to work on live projects with corporates. Live projects provide a very close view of the market dynamics and chance to learn complex realities of business organizations. Some organizations where our students have undertaken live projects are Pepsico, HCL Infosystems, Reliance money, Kotak Mahindra, Outlook etc.
