  • About MeI am an Industrial Design Student currently in my 3rd Year at Northumbria University. Creative, outgoing, independent, confident, hard working individual, with strong career aspects and goals. I have a huge passion for all things design, and use this passion on a daily basis as a means to view the world around me, and am very eager to learn, with any experience given to me being greatly appreciated.

    Work ExperienceInternship: IDAPT (Shenzhen, China)

I really wanted to experience something completely different for my work experience, so I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to travel to Shenzhen and spend 6 months working out there. I was part of the Design and Development team and worked closely with the Head of Design developing new product concepts and ranges as well as being involved with the development of ideas that they were already working on, prior to my arrival.

  • Philips ShaveA shaver for Philips to help them

    attract a younger market

  • Design a shaver for Philips to help them target ayounger market

    The Research Stage

    User Research

On average, Philips target market started

    shaving at 15 years old

The target market have little to no facial hair, so do not need the tradi-tional shaver heads

Users staued with the same brand that they started shaving with

Modern materials and styles were preffered to the traditional electric

    shaver design.

Teenager Facial Hair Brand Loyalty Simplicity

  • Product Research

Majority of Philips shavers had three

heads, which the user said they did not want.

    Three Heads

Current Philips shavers are targeted towards a mid 20s and above

    age range.

    Target Market

The price of current Philips shavers was too high for someone who is just starting to shave

    about the skill of photography

  • Design a camera to help the user unlock theirPhotographic Potential

Everyone has the power to be a photographer and has 1 or 2 great photos in

    them

Photographs make an emotional connection to

    the viewer

It is just about unlocking these photos

    Insights

  • As an amateur photographer, I struggled to understand the

various icons and information on the camer screen

I also struggled with the various settings the lens would present

    to me

I also did not know which mode on the dial to set my camera to so I could take the best photos

So we need a camera to help educate the user as to what the ideal settings would be when taking photos

    in various environments

  • User Experience

The user sets the camera to the correct mode, depending on what scanario they

    are in to take photographs.

After the mode is set, the user must press the area scanner button, which will let the camera recognise what kind of environ-

    ment it is in.

The camera then tells the user what the optimal Aperture, Shutter Speed and

focus range are. This is highlighted on the lens, as green leds show where the user needs to twist each part of the lens to.

The user then has the opportunity to be educated as to why the camera thinks

the settings needed to be changed to the selected variables.

The user then takes the picture, with the camera set up to take the optimal photo.

The user can then review the photos he/she has taken.
