L. Gale Lemerand provided an endowment to the Daytona State College Foundation to found the L. Gale Lemerand Center for Entrepreneurship. The L. Gale Lemerand Entrepreneurial Speaker Series presents: Scholarships: Up to three promising students interested in entrepreneurship will each earn a $1,000 L. Gale Lemerand Entrepreneurial Speaker Series Scholarship. DSC students, DSC Adult Educaon students and Volusia or Flagler County high school students who plan to aend DSC are encouraged to apply. Lucas Boyce Former NBA execuve, author and movaonal speaker Lucas Boyce was born into a life of poverty in Independence, Mo., and was placed into foster care. However, his pathway has led to execuve careers in presidenal polics and professional sports. His book “Living Proof: From Foster Care to the White House and the NBA,” is a testament that when hard work, determinaon and grace meet opportunity, anything can happen. Boyce, 36, travels the country delivering speeches focused on leadership, team work, overcoming obstacles and making a posive impact on the lives of others. Prior to becoming a strategist and polical consultant, Boyce served as director of business development and legislave affairs for the Orlando Magic, responsible for strategic business planning, with a focus on developing a new sports and entertainment district in downtown Orlando. He also has served the Magic as director of community relaons, mulcultural insights, cause-markeng and government affairs. Before he joined the Magic, Boyce served at the White House in the Office of Polical Affairs. There, he monitored polical acvity and coordinated proacve communicaon, public relaons and educaon outreach on behalf of President George W. Bush. Boyce earned his bachelor’s degree in polical science and speech communicaon from the University of Central Missouri and graduated with his Execuve MBA from Rollins College in May 2013.
