Auditorium A Presenter: Glenn Manino, Manager of Library Information Systems, University of New Orleans Moderator: Selina Wang, Consortium Librarian, LOUIS Target Audience: All The Unicorn Transaction Statistics report can provide a lot of useful information, but it can also be confusing to use and interpret. This presentation discusses the basics of the Transaction Statistics report, and gives a view of the StatLog file, which is where the report gets its information. You will get techniques and software to look at the StatLog file in new ways, and get hour-by-hour breakdowns of the kinds and amount of work taking place at Circulation, Acquisitions, Cataloging, or any other service area. Two additional functions will be discussed: 1) a program to create a fund summary report in Excel directly from WorkFlows, and 2) a new look at the New Book list. How about what happens to committee recommendations? This session will explain the structure of LOUIS committees, how they relate to LALINC and LLN and the process behind selecting members, establishing duties, and implementing recommendations. Once most of the EJS online journals were activated, these titles were added to Northwestern’s AtoZ list. This complicated and time-consuming project will be described in detail, along with an overview of Northwestern’s AtoZ product as it currently stands.

Institutional Repositories are a new service that libraries can offer by collecting the scholarship of their university's faculty and making it available on the web to all users. The content may include pre-prints, working papers, images, data sets, and published articles. Such a repository concentrates the intellectual production of a University and highlights its scholarship for researchers and administrators alike. Using Flash, librarians can create visually compelling miniature movies ranging from the simple text-only tutorial to explosive mini-movie demonstrations of techniques and tips for research and library skills.
