Our people have been deceived! When many people

are asked the definition of Grace, their answer is simple,

they say, Grace is a prayer you say before you eat. I ask

you this; Is it really? I think not. The definition of

Graceif it could be stated in one word, it would be

Favor. A favor is something that is undeserved,

unexpected or requested. True enough, Grace is a word

we use to describe the prayer we say before we eat but

that is not the original definition or the only definition of

    Grace.

Grace from Our Lord Jesus Christ means finding

favor, receiving something undeserved, a gift, from God!

We can find favor in the Lord by Grace. Jesus Christ is

the source of Grace because of His Grace we have

redemption and forgiveness of our sins.

    Ephesians 1:7-10

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the

forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 7

Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and

    prudence; 8

Many people hear the word Grace and have no concept of

the meaning. The meaning we are discussing is a favor or

    gift from God-Grace.

    Galatians 1:15

But when it pleased God, who separated me from my

mothers womb, and called me by his grace,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us

together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved,) 5

And hath raise us up together, and made us sit together in

heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 6

When Apollos was baptized by John the Baptist, he

was filled with the Holy Spirit and he started to teach

about the Lord. His instruction came from the Holy Spirit

that he received after his baptism. Aquil and Priscilla

helped him to speak it better. Apollos was able to help

people with his teachings, to believe through grace.

Apollo taught the people that Jesus was Christ, the same

savior that had been predicted in the scriptures.

    Acts 18:24-28

And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an

eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to

    Ephesus. 24

This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and

being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently

the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

    25

And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom

when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took himunto

them and expounded unto him the way of God more

    perfectly. 26

And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the

brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him:

who when he was come, helped them much which had

    believed through grace: 27.

For He mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly,

showing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ. 28

The apostle Paul taught that we are justified by grace

through Jesus Christ who redeemed us (all of us) with His

    precious blood.

    Romans 3:20-26

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus

Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is

    no difference: 22

    For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption

that is in Christ Jesus: 24

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through

faith in his blood, to declare, his righteousness for the

remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of

    God. 25

To declare, I say at this time his righteousness; that he

might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in

    Jesus 26.

When the apostle Paul was in Ephesis he addressed

many serious issues that were causing conflict between

the Gentile and Jewish Christians. The tension was so

great that there was a direct threat to the churchs unity.

There was much talk of a division in the church. So much

so that the two groups were going to split and this act

would ruin the unity of the church.

Paul explained to the church Gods revelations to

him, insisting that it was Gods divine purpose that the

gospel was preached to the Gentiles. The Gentiles were

once foreigners to Gods covenants but now because of

Jesus Christs ultimate sacrifice the Gentiles, (foreigners

or outsiders) to Gods covenant had the ability to be saved

by grace when they believed and were made one or equal

    to Gods chosen people.

Even though the Jews were Gods original chosen

people, the Gentiles were now accepted and adopted by

God through our Lord Jesus Christ blood that was shed on

the cross for the redemption of our sins. Paul speaks to the

Ephesians about the riches of Grace and forgiveness that

we receive through the blood and grace of our Lord Jesus

Christ explaining that it is by grace we are adopted by

God and can have a relationship with God just as His

    original chosen people.

    of his will, 5

The Lord gives us consolation and hope through Grace!

    2Thessalonians 2:16

Now our Lord Jesus Christ, himself, and God, even our

Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us

everlasting consolation and good hope through grace.16

In the Holy Bible, Grace is described as all abundant.

Abundant means to have a lot of something, more than

you need! Grace is described as a free gift that can

justify or erase our offenses or sins. We receive this

grace through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a

    free gift!

    Romans 5:15-20

But not as the offense, so also is the free gift. For if

through the offense of one many be dead, much more the

grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man,

Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 15

And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the

judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is

of many offenses unto justification 16

Grace is a Free Gift from God!

For if by one mans offense death reigned by one; much

more they which receive abundance of grace and of the

gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus

    Christ. 17

Therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon

all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of

one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of

    life. 18

For as by one mans (Adam) disobedience many were

made sinners, so by the obedience of one(Jesus) shall

    many be made righteous. 19

Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound,

    But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound;

That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace

reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus

    Christ our Lord. 21

The apostle Paul had a thorn in his flesh, he asked the

Lord three times to get rid of it and the Lord gave him an

answer letting Paul know that Godsgrace would be

enough to strengthen him and that by his suffering, his

weakness was a way to help him become stronger and

    more perfect!

    2 Corinthians 12:9-10

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for

my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly

therefore willI rather glory in my infirmities, that the

power of Christ may rest upon me. 9

Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in

necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christs

sake: for when Iam weak, then am I strong.10

We now know we are saved through faith because of

the Grace of Jesus Christ and we know that Grace is a gift

from God. We cannot receive Grace because of the good

things we may do for one another, (good deeds); we can

only receive it through Jesus Christ as a free gift from

God! There is no other way to get Grace. You are not

born with it, Grace does come naturally. Grace is not

something you can acquire by taking lessons or

things you do or the work that you accomplish. Grace is a

Gift from God acquired only by the blood of Jesus Christ!

    Ephesians 2:8-10

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of

yourselves: it is the gift of God 8

Not of works, lest any man should boast.9

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto

good works, which God hath before ordained that we

    should walk in them. 10

Grace is Glorious! The apostle Paul also pointed out

that the people who were not of the original chosen

people of God were now presented with the ability to be

That the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same

to God with boldness that was unavailable previously to

    the Gentiles.

The apostles Peter and John had performed many

miracles. The council members were disturbed and talked

among themselves about these miraculous healings and

presumed that they must have been disciples of Jesus. The

councilmen decided to threaten Peter and John so that

they would not speak about Jesus anymore. The council

called them in and ordered them never to teach anything

else in the name of Jesus. The councilmen did not have

any grounds to punish them. Peter and John did not obey

them; they immediately went out and lifted their voices to

God in one accord, telling the Lord and the people there,

of the threats made against them and asked the Lord to

give them boldness to speak Gods word, stretch out His

hand to heal the people and asked for signs and wonders

to be done in the name of Jesus Christ! When they said

their prayer everything started to shake and the people

were filled with the Holy Ghost and started to speak

Gods word with boldness. Everyone began to teach the

word of God! All of the people were of one heart and one

Once we are saved by the grace of our Lord we

cannot continue to ride the fence! We must begin a new

life by ignoring the evil desires of our flesh and minds

and stay focused, keeping our eyes on the prize-following

Jesus Christs example. Always keeping in mind that we

were saved by His grace and not because of things we did

in this world! Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice just to

save us, an undeserving people. We should always remain

thankful and obedient to His word because He loved us so

    much that he saved us!

Now many may be asking how does Grace affect us

as believers in the Lord, in todays world? The answer is

clear! We are to be dead unto sin and alive unto God! We

live under the covering of His awesome gift of grace!

We as believers are under Grace and sin does no

longer have control over us because as Christians we live

under the covering of grace which means we can control

what sins we commit. As Christians our sins are covered

by grace but that does not mean that we should

    intentionally commit sins.

Believers receive Grace through Jesus Christ who
