This guide for counselors serves as a resource to assist high school students in determining which Dual Enrollment courses best fit their future educational goals.
The guide provides a list of all available courses a Dual Enrollment student can enroll in eachsemester as they work to fulfill their high school and chosen college degree programs. The guidelist required degree courses, course name at LSUE, correlating high school course, high school course code, suggested high school grade for enrollment, and any special instructions or prerequisites for each DE course.
Instructions for using DE Advising Guide:
1. Have the student select a future career choice.2. Use the Career Choices tab to determine the appropriate college degree based on career choice.3. Click on the correct Associate Degree tab along the bottom to view the courses in the degree program .4. Use the chart to determine which high school courses correlate to each college course .5. Select courses that meet both the high school needs and the college degree as first choice DE courses.6. Add the desired courses to the DE application each semester according to the degree advsing form.
This guide also provides a chart that shows which college credit can be earned through ACT, AP, or CLEP Examsfor a student's chosen degree program.
The AP-CLEP Equivalency tabs list each course in the degree program and any related test scores that can be used to earn articulated college credit for the course.
Instructions for receiving course credit from Standardized Exams:
1. Complete a Course Credit form (download online) and return signed form to the Dual Enrollment Office at LSUE.2. LSUE will acquire the necessary signature on the form from the appropriate Dean.3. The student will be contacted to pick up the form from the Dual Enrollment Office. 4. Student must bring payment for course(s) and the form to the Business Office .5. Submit form with payment receipt to the Admissions Office (Geaux Center).
