2 OMS REVIEW

46th Annual Comprehensive Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Review Course

with Case Format Emphasis and Complete Didactic ReviewMonday-Friday, November 4-8, 2019

The Oral and Maxillofacial Review Course is a live educational activity designed specifically for oral and maxillofacial surgery practitioners and residents who desire a comprehensive review that focuses on all phases of oral and maxillofacial surgery. It emphasizes critical areas of surgery with scientific support and prepares surgeons and residents for specialty examinations. All lectures stress the techniques used and the scientific justifications for those techniques. This educational activity was developed based on previous course evaluations, input from course leaders and advisory committee, and a review of current issues and needs in the fields of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Learning Objectives include potential improvement in all areas of OMS practice, identification of knowledge and treatment goal deficiencies, assistance in educational study habits for examinations, recognition of performance needs and outcomes in patient care, understand a wide variety of diagnostic parameters and surgical treatment options for more efficient, improved/safe patient care, and change treatment goals as a result of speaker’s presentations and patient outcomes.

All topics are heavy with NEW Case Format Presentations to mimic the educational style of resident quizzing on rounds and during conferences and oral examinations. This is accomplished through interactive discussions on each topic between Speakers and Volunteer OMS getting ready to take their oral ABOMS Boards. Some factual didactic information normally given during lectures, as presented in past LSU courses, will be provided on USB flash drives to all attendees rather than during lecture time. All cases and all pertinent factual information presented by speakers will be found on the flash drives. Lecture time and total course time is therefore reduced. During each topic you will enjoy an oral examination of Volunteer OMS attendees.
