Our school is located in the very centre of Rome only 5 minutes from St. Peter's Church and just offVia Cola di Rienzo one of the most important commercial streets of the city right behind Piazza delPopolo. The school is surrounded by cinemas, restaurants and a wide variety of shops. Very close tothe school are two metro stops, Ottaviano and Lepanto, and the whole area is very well connected topublic transport.

The school was founded in 1985. For the last 25 years the school has been one of the most importantItalian language teaching centers in Rome. Every year we receive a significant number of studentsfrom all over the world, who need to improve their Italian communication skills, prepare themselvesfor the international language certification exams and university exams, participate in the Internshipprogram or those who wants to start studying Italian from the beginning. The school offers alsoItalian teacher training (LS/L2). Our italian language school is accredited by the MIUR (Minister ofEducation and University) and is an authorized centre for the "Certificato di Italiano"(www.certificazionitelc.it) and for the preparation for the CILS (Certificato di Italiano come LinguaStraniera dell'Università per Stranieri di Siena - www.unistrasi.it). The school is also the founder ofItalian in Italy, (Associazione Nazionale di Scuole di Lingua e Cultura Italiana in Italia) anassociation whose aim is to promote Italian language and culture abroad. We have 10 teachers.

What are your teacher qualifications?

All our trainers have a degree in Humanistic Studies and an academic certification for teachingItalian as a second language (DITALS II level or Master post-laurea degree). Despite this commonprofile, each of them comes from a different field, like the university, the theatre, the world ofbusiness and publishers, and this enriches our school with trainers with different skills andcompetences. However, all of them share a strong interest towards other cultures.

Do you offer work experience?

Our school offers a possibility to work in different sectors, from among the most you can chose onejust right for you. You can also work as a language teacher in our school or in other languageschools with whom we have an agreement.

What is the length of each lesson?

Each lesson lasts 45 minutes.

What is a typical class time table like?

Lessons start every Monday at 09:30. We can also provide a flexible service, by sending our teachersby premises.Intensive Standard: 09:30 – 13:00 (break 11:00-11:30)Intensive Plus: 09:30 – 15:00 (breaks from 11:00-11:30 and 13:00-13:30)

What is the maximum/average class size?

The school accepts a maximum of 10 students per class, in order to guarantee the highest qualitylevel of the courseand of the relationship between students and teachers.

What levels are offered and how fast does a student progress from level tolevel?

Student evaluation is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. TheCommon European Framework divides learners into three broad divisions which can be divided intosix levels:1. A Basic User, A1 Breakthrough, A2 Waystage2. B Independent User, B1 Threshold, B2 Vantage3. C Proficient User, C1 Effective Operational Proficiency, C2 Mastery

Are textbooks included in the fees?

All material that we give to the students during the lessons is included in the price of the coursesand can be kept by the student after.

Do you receive a free certificate once the course has ended?

A Final Certificate is handled to each student who was attending Italian classes regularly with nomore than 1 day of absence during every week and has successfully completed his program. TheCertificate indicates personal dates of the student (Name, Surname, Date and place of birth), lengthof study (dates and hours) and acquired level of knowledge. Students get the certificate for free.

Can I switch my course type/length once I have started it, or decide to add anadditional course?

You can discuss it with your teacher and our director.

When are the school holidays?

The school remains closed on the following dates of the year 2012: 1st January, 6th January, 9thApril, 25th April, 1st May,2nd June, 29th June, 15th August, 1st November, 8th December, 25 and 26 December.

How do we teach?

In terms of the study of grammar and the formal aspects of the language, the priority of school hasalways been the development of communication skills and the ability to speak in real scenarios suchas at work, at school, at a party or in social situations. Grammar and phonetics are taught, though inan inductive way. Italian courses are very dynamic and require the students’ active participation,while respecting each individual’s learning pace and expectations. No one is ever obliged to speak asthe emphasis is on the spontaneity and joy of communicating as well as creating a relaxing,productive and fun atmosphere. The key to our courses is the Intercultural Approach.

You have to present yourself on first Monday of your arrival at 9:00 a.m. in order to pass a test andto be placed in the right for his Italian language level group.

PAYMENTS/ CANCELLATIONS/ REFUNDS

Can I receive an invoice?

Yes, you can.

What are your payment terms and conditions?

Together with your application form you are requested to send a receipt of the payment of 100% ofthe total cost of the course and the requested housing. All program costs are due three weeks priorto the first day of the program. Student may not attend our programs or enroll in courses until allcosts are paid and received. All documents that confirm student’s application to the course andaccommodation will be sent to him only after the payment effectuated. Students must send a copy oftheir receipt via fax or e-mail, showing program costs paid as soon as they make the payment.

How do I cancel a course and will I get a refund for the course and/or the

accommodation?

To cancel enrolment the following conditions are applied:- cancellation with at least 30 day notice from the beginning of the course: no penalty, fullreimbursement;- cancellation between 29 and 15 days from the beginning of the course: 50% of the total amountpenalty. However, during this period if the withdrawing student is replaced by another participant,the student who cancels will be charged only a set free of Euro 93.00 for administrative fees.- No reimbursement whatsoever will be given for conciliation communicated from 14 days prior tothe beginning of the course onwards. Cancellations have to be communicated directly in writing(registered letter, telegram, fax or e-mail), no other form.

How do I pay for my course?

Payment can be made by cash, by bank transfer or credit card.

Do you offer insurance?

Enrolled students have no insurance coverage with regard to damage, accident or illness. Aninsurance plan is advised. Citizens from European Community countries are entitled to free medicalcare in Italy if they hold an El 11 form which can be obtained from their local health authority intheir home country before departing for Italy. Students from non-EEC countries must check throughthe competent authorities in their countries whether they are insured during their stay abroad; ifthey are not covered, they should take out a health insurance policy to cover their stay in Italy.

Can I take a holiday during my course?

Yes, there is such possibility.

Do I need a visa to study at your school?

If you want to obtain a study Visa you must enroll for six month (the embassy will release onlytouristic, and you can’t ask for more than 6 months).You can renew the study visa directly in Italywith another enrolment of 6 months or a job contract. This prices include: inscription, materials,certificate at the end of the course and test at the beginning.After we receive the payment we will release to you all the documentation concerning the school you

will need for the visa application.

How much spending money should I bring?

It depends on your needs.

Can I get a job while I am studying at the School?

Many of our students choose to do volunteer work. This is an excellent way to really do somethingworthwhile and rewarding, whilst at the same time practicing your language skills and learning agreat deal about yourself and about the people whose language you are studying. We want to makecertain that your work in Rome uses your special skills and experience so that your work will betterserve the needs of our educational charity. It is sometimes possible to do volunteer work at the sametime as you attend a language course at one of our schools. In other cases you will need to do thevolunteer work after your course has finished. Our schools arrange a wide range of volunteer work,in many locations.

Can I arrange work experience through the School?

You can combine your language course with a new work experience. Our school offers a possibilityto work in different sectors, from among the most you can chose one just right for you. You can alsowork as a language teacher in our school or in other language schools with whom we have anagreement. The school provides also an expert advice, inspirational first-hand experiences andpractical resources for students, freelancers and professionals who wish to find jobs for the summeror for the incoming year.
