Automatic relock

If the vehicle is unlocked and no door or tailgateis opened within one minute, it will automaticallyrelock and arm the alarm.

• Press once to lock the vehicle and arm the alarm.

• Press twice to double lock the vehicle.

• Press and hold to close the windows (Global closing).

• Press once to unlock the driver’s door and tailgate and to deactivate the alarm (Single point entry).

• A second press will unlock all other doors.

• Press and hold to open the windows (Global opening).

• Press once to switch on the headlampsfor a short period (Approach lighting).

Press again to switch off.

• Press to unlock the tailgate.

• Press twice rapidly or press and hold, to activate the panic alarm. After five seconds, press the button again to cancel the alarm.

Unlocking mode alternatives

Single-point entry is a security feature that allowsonly the driver’s door and tailgate to unlock with asingle press.

Multi-point entry will unlock all doors and tailgatewith a single press.

You can adjust the unlocking mode on all orindividual remote control units. Press and hold thelock and unlock buttons simultaneously for threeseconds to change modes.

Operating note

If the vehicle has already been double locked withthe remote control, the master unlock switch will notrelease the locks.

Emergency key release

1. Press the release tab.

2. Pull the ring attachment and remove the key blade.

Tailgate unlock

To unlock only the tailgate, press 1 and 2simultaneously for three seconds.

Speed related locking

If enabled, all apertures will automatically lockwhen the vehicle speed exceeds 8km/h (5mph).

This feature can be turned on or off by a LandRover Dealer.

Windows and door mirrors adjusting

Windows

All of the windows can be fully opened or closedwith a single operation.

1. Firmly press or lift the respective window switch and release it. Movement can be stopped by briefly operating the switch again.

2. Press to inhibit operation of the rear windows.

Door mirror adjustment

3. Press L or R to select the left or right mirror.

4. Use to adjust mirror positions.

Powerfold door mirrors

The mirrors can fold back allowing the vehicle tonegotiate narrow openings.

Press the L and R buttons simultaneously to foldin. Press again to return the mirrors to theopened position.

Resonance with lowered windows

If a resonance or booming sound occurs when awindow is open, lowering an adjacent front windowabout 25 mm (1 inch) will eliminate the condition.

Opening the tailgate

Ensure the tailgate is unlocked.

1. Press the release switch on the bottom edge of the exterior handle and lift to open.

Comfort adjustments

With the vehicle stationary;

1. Unlock the lever.

2. Adjust the steering wheel to the desired position.

3. Move the lever back to the lock position.

Steering column security lock

The vehicle has an electronic steering columnlock. It is deactivated when the remote control isin its docking port. The steering wheel may needslight rotation to release the lock.

1. Seat back angle.

2. Seat forwards and back, cushion height and cushion angle.

3. Driving position memory controls.

4. Lumbar support.

Once you have adjusted the power operateddriver's seat and exterior mirrors for your idealdriving position, the vehicle can memorise thesesettings for future use.

1. Press the MEM button to activate the memoryfunction.

2. Within five seconds press memory button 1, 2or 3 to store the current driving position to the chosen number. Any existing setting on that button will be over-written.

To use a stored memory position, press the appropriate memory button; 1, 2 or 3. The seatand mirrors will move to their preset positions.

Clock setting

1. Press the MENU button.

2. Rotate the control to display Clock then press it to confirm selection.

3. At this point, if required, a choice can be made to use 12 or 24 hour display mode. With the Standard audio, rotate the control to select 12/24 and press to confirm. Rotate again to change the setting and press it to confirm. Rotate the control to select Set then press it to confirm selection.

With the Premium audio, rotate the control to select Time Mode and press to confirm. Rotate again to change the setting and press to confirm.

4. With both units, rotate the control to set the hour and minute, pressing after each selection to confirm.

ClockNews

A warning indicator on theinstrument pack will illuminate if afront seat belt is unbuckled. This

may be accompanied by an intermittent chime.

Child seats

It is important to remember that a child’s weight,rather than age, determines the type of seat thatis required.

Recommended child seat

Land Rover’s recommended Group 1 seat is theLand Rover ISOFIX child restraint with a top tether.

An ISOFIX child seat can be fitted only in the outerrear seating positions.

Handbook to determine the correct seat for yourchild.

Passenger airbag deactivation

Operating note

When an adult or a child over 12 years is seated inthe front passenger seat, ensure thePASS.AIRBAG switch is turned to the ON position.

PASS AIR BAG OFF

If it becomes necessary to fit a child restraint onthe front passenger seat, the passenger airbagmust be deactivated.

To deactivate the airbag, open the frontpassenger door and use the emergency key toturn the PASS.AIRBAG switch (located on theend of the facia) to the OFF position.

With the airbag deactivated, the status indicator,located on the overhead console, will illuminatewhenever the ignition is on.

5. The Standard unit will display OK when the time is set. Press the control to accept. On the Premium unit, press the EXIT button to return to the main menu.

1. AUTO (automatic) mode

Press for automatic operation of the climatecontrol system. The climate control willautomatically adjust the air conditioning, blowerspeed, air intake and airflow distribution tomaintain the selected temperature(s) and reducemisting without constant manual adjustments.

2. Temperature control

Rotate the controls to set the requiredtemperature.

External water deposits

The air conditioning system removes moisture fromthe air and deposits the excess water beneath thevehicle. Puddles may form but this is normal and nocause for concern.

Operating note

The automatic system allows a temperaturedifferential of up to 4°C (7°F) between left and rightpassenger areas.

3. Blower Control

Rotate clockwise to increase and counterclockwise todecrease airflow from the vents.

4. Air distribution

• Front screen and side window vents

• Face level

• Foot level

The automatic system allows more than one setting tobe selected at once.

The following will illuminate during normal driving to indicate that a related system or feature is operating. Ifany other warning lamp illuminates, refer to the Owner’s Handbook.

Parking aids

Front parking aid - manual operation

Press the facia switch to activate the frontparking aid. The switch will illuminate and a shortconfirmation tone will sound.

With the ignition on, the parking aids areactivated whenever reverse gear is selected. Ashort confirmation tone will sound after onesecond. If an obstruction is detected by thesensors, an intermittent tone will sound. As thevehicle moves closer to the obstruction theintermittent tone increases in frequency.

2. Remote control docking port

Button 1 will operate only when the vehiclerecognises a remote control located securely inthe docking port 2.

With the remote control buttons facing upwards,insert the control into the docking port 2 until itlatches into place.

Turning the ignition on

Press and hold 1 for a short period. Press again to turn off.

Starting the engine - automatic transmission

With Park selected and the foot brake depressed, briefly press button 1. Press again to stop the engine and turn off the ignition.

Starting the engine - manual transmission

Depress the clutch pedal and briefly press button 1. Press again to stop the engine and turn off the ignition.

Removing the remote control unit from thedocking port

Lightly press the unit to unlatch it. Grip the unit byits sides and pull out. DO NOT pull out by using theemergency key attachment ring.

4. AUTO. With ignition on, a sensor monitors theexterior light levels and will automaticallyswitch the side lamps and low beamheadlamps ON and OFF as required.

5. Facia illumination control.

8. Headlamps levelling control.

Direction indicators - Move the lever up ordown to activate the direction indicators.

Moving the lever up or down against springpressure and then releasing will flash theindicators three times. Useful for lane changing.

Headlamp high beam - Push the leveraway from you to select headlamp high

beam. A warning indicator will illuminate on theinstrument pack.

To flash headlamps, pull the lever part waytowards the steering wheel and release.

Care point

Before entering an automatic car wash, turn thewipers off to deactivate the rain sensor. Otherwise,the wipers will operate during the car washprogramme and may be damaged.

Gearshift interlock

To move the gear selector from Park, the remotecontrol must be in the docking port, the footbrake applied and the selector release button 1pressed in.

Automatic gear selection

Select Drive for fully automatic gear changes.The LED to the left of D will illuminate.

Sport mode

This is an automatic gear change mode,however, change points are modified to make fulluse of engine power.

Move the gear selector from Drive to the leftside. The LED 2 to will illuminate and themessage centre will display SPORT.

Manual gear selection (CommandShift)

This mode provides a more involving experiencegiving the driver the opportunity to choose thegear change point. This is particularly effectivewhen rapid acceleration or engine braking arerequired. If engine speed limits are reached, gearselections will be made automatically.

As with Sport mode, move the gear selector fromDrive to the left side.

Move the selector forward or back for manualgear selection. After each gear change theselector returns to the central position. Themessage centre will display the selected gear.

To deselect CommandShift, move the gearselector back to the Drive position.

Operating note

If Terrain Response is fitted, Sports mode isavailable only when the General program isselected.

With the gear selector in Sport, the transmissionwill stay in lower gears for longer with downshiftsoccurring more readily. Fuel consumption will beadversely affected.

To fully open and close

• Press and release switch 1 to fully open.

• Press and release switch 2 to fully close.

To tilt from closed position

• Press and release switch 2 to open to tilt position.

• Press and release switch 1 to fully close.

Sunroof movement can be stopped at any time bypressing the switch again.

Operating note

The sunroof will operate for 40 seconds after theignition has been switched off as long as the frontdoors remain closed.

The sunroof switch must be pressed until the roofreaches the desired position.

Hill Descent Control (HDC)

HDC allows greater descent control particularlywhen descending severe off-road gradients.

Press the HDC switch 1. HDC can be selected atspeeds below 80 km/h (50 mph) but will not befully active until vehicle speed is below 50 km/h(30 mph).

A continuously illuminated indicator in theinstrument pack confirms selection.

Press 1 again to deselect HDC.

Terrain Response system

Terrain Response is always active and cannot beswitched off. When the vehicle is started thesystem will normally start in its General program.

Rotate the control to select a program. This willadjust vehicle systems, including drive andsuspension, to enhance driveability and tractionon specific surface conditions and terrains.

We recommend that a special program beengaged whenever driving conditions are difficultand cancelled once those conditions are nolonger present.

General - Use for typical road surfaces.

Wading

Select the program most suitable for the surfacebeneath the water. DO NOT exceed 500 mm (19.7inches) water depth.

Grass-Gravel-Snow - Suitable for firm butslippery surfaces, e.g. grass, snow, loose gravel,pebbles or icy conditions. If gravel conditionsare deep, the Sand program may be morebeneficial.

Mud-Ruts - Suitable for soft, muddy, uneven ordeeply rutted ground.

Sand - Suitable for soft, predominantly dry,yielding sandy ground, e.g. sand dunes anddeserts. If the sand is damp or wet, the Mud-Ruts program may be more beneficial.

Cruise control

Cruise control will disengage if the brake or clutchpedal is pressed or when vehicle speed falls below30 km/h (18 mph).

Steering wheel controls

1. Press + to set or increase road speed while cruise control is operating.

2. Press - to set a lower speed while cruise control is operating.

3. Press to resume a set speed retained in memory.

4. Press to cancel cruise control but retain the set speed in memory for later use.

DAB radio - Premium units

To automatically tune to and build a list ofavailable digital ensembles and channels, firstselect DAB1 or DAB2. Now press the AUTObutton. Auto-tuning will be displayed. Whentuning is complete, the first channel found willstart to play.

Storing a DAB channel

Press the channel search button 9 (seeopposite) repeatedly to view available channelinformation. When you find a channel you wantto store, press and hold a numbered presetbutton for two seconds.

Recalling a stored DAB channel

Select DAB1 or DAB2 then briefly press theappropriate numbered preset button.Alternatively, you can scroll through all storedchannels by rotating the menu control 7.

Press either the FM or AM button to select therequired waveband. Repeated presses of eitherbutton will scroll through the FM and AMwaveband memory options.

On Premium units, repeated presses will alsodisplay DAB1 and DAB2.

Storing radio stations

Press and hold for three seconds either the FMor AM button or the AUTO button on Premiumunits. Stations with the strongest frequencies willbe stored under the preset numbers in theselected waveband.

To recall a preset station, press and release anumbered preset button. On Premium units, firstpress the AUTO button then the numberedpreset button.

To manually store a station as a preset, refer tothe Owner’s Handbook.

Compatible disc types

The use of discs with paper labels or dual formatdiscs (CD/DVD) should be avoided as they couldbecome jammed.

Single CD player

Insert a disc, label side up, into the player. Thedisc will load and start to play.

To end CD playback, briefly press one of theother mode buttons (FM, AM or AUX).

To eject the disc, press the eject button 10 (seeopposite). The display will show the messageRemove Disc when it is safe to do so.

CD autochanger

To insert a single disc, press the CD button, thenone of the buttons numbered 1 to 6. Whenprompted by the information display, insert thedisc, label side up. The autochanger will load theCD in the selected number position.

To fully load the autochanger, press and hold theCD button. The information display will showLoad All. When prompted, insert a disc, labelside up. This process is repeated until all six CDpositions are occupied.

Playing CDs

When in CD mode, press the appropriate CDbutton number 1 to 6 to start playing the disc.Playback commences and progressessequentially through all of the loaded discs.

Playback can be paused by briefly pressing oneof the other mode buttons (FM, AM or AUX).Playback will resume when the CD button ispressed again.

Ejecting CDs

To eject a single disc, select the required disc bypressing one of the number buttons 1 to 6 andthen press the eject button.

To eject all loaded discs, press and hold the ejectbutton. The discs will be ejected one at a time.

Remove disc(s) only when the display shows themessage Remove Disc.

Navigation

The screen requires only a light touch to operate the function. Excess pressure could result in damage. Oninitial activation, ensure that both the correct country and area have been selected.

Cancelling guidance

Touch the Home icon, select Routeoptions, Cancel guidance and then touchConfirm.

5. Once found, the screen displays the destination. Touch Destination to start theroute calculation or, to change the routesettings, touch Route Prefs.

6. Once calculated, the screen highlights theroute. Touch 3-Routes for a choice of Quick,Normal and Short routes or touch Start tostart navigation. Drive away, following thevoice guidance.

When your destination is reached, voice andvisual confirmation is given.

Route preferences

When set, route preferences are remembered andused for calculating all new routes. If you encounterproblems with the type of routes being selected orthe guidance being given, please check the routepreferences.

Touch the audible repeat icon to hear thelast voice instruction again.

Setting a destination

To set a destination and start using thenavigation system, use the following procedure:

1. Touch the screen to start and when prompted,touch Agree to access the initial map screen.

2. Touch the Destination Entry icon.

3. Touch the Address icon, then enter detailsusing the on-screen keypad. Touch OK to enter.

Telephone

Bluetooth® phones

Making a call

1. With a mobile phone paired, press the button on the audio system or use switch 1 on the steering wheel controls.

2. Enter the required telephone number using the numeric keypad.

3. Press the button or operate switch 1 on the steering wheel to dial the number.

Receiving and ending calls

To answer a call, press the button on theaudio system or operate switch 1 on the steeringwheel.

To end or reject a call, press the C/EXIT buttonon the audio system or operate switch 2 on thesteering wheel.

Compatible Bluetooth phones can communicatewith the vehicle’s inbuilt telephone system.Connection must be made with ignition on orengine running and your mobile phone Bluetoothfunction enabled.

Pairing your vehicle to a mobile phone

1. Press the telephone mode buttonon the Premium audio unit.

2. When prompted, press the rotary control to continue the pairing process.

3. The audio unit will display a message. Press the rotary control to confirm. The system will now search for any Bluetooth enabled devices within range.

4. All devices found will be listed on the display. Rotate the control to scroll to your phone.

5. Press the rotary control to confirm yourselection.

6. A Bluetooth access code will be displayed. Enter this number into your phone. Your phone will now pair to the vehicle system.

7. If the process fails, a message will be displayed on the audio unit. Press the rotarycontrol to retry or press the EXIT button and restart the process.

A maximum of 5 phones can be paired to thevehicle.

When the starter key is turned on, the vehiclesearches for up to 5 previously paired phones,starting with the most recent pairing.

Before attempting a new pairing, wait for 30seconds for this process to complete.

The fuel filler flap can only beopened when the vehicle isunlocked. Pull the flap to open.

A small arrow on the fuel gaugeindicates which side the fuel filler flap islocated.

The filler cap is secured to the vehicle by a strap.For your convenience a holder is provided on theflap to hook the strap over while refuelling.

Retighten the cap until it clicks three times.

Fuel specification

The correct fuel specification for your vehicle isshown on the inside of the fuel filler flap.

Incorrect fuelling

If the vehicle is filled with the wrong type of fuel:

• DO NOT start the engine!

• Call for qualified assistance!

Equipment necessary for use of fuels containingmore than 10 per cent ethanol is not fitted to thisvehicle.

Do not use E85 fuels (85 per cent ethanol content).If E85 fuels are used, serious engine and fuelsystem damage will occur.

For diesel vehicles, use diesel fuel to specificationEN 590 with a maximum bio diesel mix of 5 percent.

Operating note

The fuel flap will NOT open if the vehicle is locked.
