Lesson Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:-
(a) Speak clearly by pronouncing the sound /ɪə/ - (ear) , /eə/ -
(air) accurately.
(b) List out at least five out of ten words from the phoneme
they had learnt.
Previous Knowledge : Pupils understand how the sound /ɪə/ - (ear) , /eə/ - (air) works.

(5 minutes)
Word flashcards that have:
/ɪə/ - (ear) , /eə/ - (air)
- E.g of teacher questions / instructions :
a) Pronounce this together with me.
1. Display a word flashcard on the board.
2. Ask the pupils to pronounce the sound
after teacher.
1. To help the pupils
pronounce the sounds with
correct intonation.
Pre-Activity
(15 minutes)
Play pronouncing games: “Say It Right”
1. Teacher divide the whole class into
three groups. (A, B, C).
2. Each group need to pronounce and
provide words that match with the
sounds correctly by following
instructions from the teacher.
3. Any group that get it wrong will
disqualified from the game.
4. After everything is done, teacher go
through the answer together with the
pupils.
1. To inculcate fun in their
learning.
2. To enhance their
pronouncing skills.

1. Teacher asks the pupils to open up
their text book on the page 55.
2. Teacher reads the rhyming poem
followed by the pupils.
3. Next, the pupils read aloud the poem
together with the actions.
4. Teacher ask the pupils do they notice
any words with /ɪə/ - (ear) , /eə/ - (air)
sound.
5. Teacher call the pupils randomly to
write the words on the board.
6. They go through together and teacher
help the pupils to pronounce the words
one by one with the correct
pronunciation.

pronunciation skills of the
pupils.

understanding of the usage
of /ɪə/ - (ear) , /eə/ - (air)
sound.
3. To expose to the pupils what

1. Teacher provides worksheets with a
list of words.
2. Teacher instructs the pupils to blend
the phonemes to get the right words.
