Respectful, Responsible and Resilient Students in a Safe Learning Environment

Welcome to the Week 7 edition of The Stock Report! How beautiful does our amazing little small school look at the moment? The autumn weather and recent drenching we received has certainly freshened up our gardens and lawns. Moggy and Roylie have been working hard to ensure our school and its surrounds are consistently presented in immaculate order. It is a pleasure to walk through the gates each day.

We continue to strive for excellence every day in our classrooms, consistently challenging the students to do their best and improve. Mrs O’Rafferty and I witness big and small improvements each day and these are celebrated through our school award system. Congratulations to the following students who have progressed through various levels in the past 3 weeks.

Cheve (Year 3), Jaxon (Year 4), Georgia (Year 4), Markus, Noah, Jessy and Angus (Year 6).

Special congratulations to Jessy and Noah, our School Captains, for achieving the 50 Award level, receiving their achievement medals –

well done everyone.

One of the most amazing features of small schools is how everyone lends a hand and contributes to the school’s ongoing success and improvements in some way. I would like to extend a huge thank you to our P&C Vice-President Taya, for organising to have our sports shed cleaned out recently. This was a big task and one that was long overdue. It now looks fantastic. During the hot weather Taya also looked after our students by providing fruit platters and ice blocks for everyone. Then, just this week she gave up her time again to cook the students a healthy Monday morning breakfast. We thank Taya, and Shane greatly for their ongoing support and contributions to the school and our students.

I would also like to thank Shane for organising our school to be the recipient of a substantial donation through a harvest fundraiser. More details will follow at a later date, but this money will be used to support creative arts programs this year.

Swimming Carnivals

A great day was had by all at the Binalong Swimming Carnival earlier this term. Some of our swimmers are pictured below with their certificates. The carnival was also a selection trial for the Cootamundra Zone Swimming Carnival, which Georgia, Chloe, Ben and Logan attended. Georgia had an outstanding meet, taking out the Junior Girl Champion honour and in doing so, she qualified for many events at the Riverina Carnival. Ben Chloe and Logan also attended this carnival as members of our small school’s relay team. This is a great effort – well done. Thanks to Mrs Mayor and Mrs Reid for organising transport to and from Albury.

WHAT’S NEW

Next term we will be commencing an exciting new music initiative for students in Years 3-6. We will be starting a ukulele club, a program that will be supported by tutors from the Young Regional School of Music. We recently purchased 15 brand new ukuleles for students to learn to play and perform as part of a small ensemble. Each Friday we will participate in an hour long tutorial with the aim of being able to perform at school and community functions. Lessons will be free for the students as the school and P&C will cover the costs associated with the program to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate.

A special moment for siblings Ben and Chloe as they are awarded their school achievement

medals for achieving the 50 award level ANZAC Day Our school has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2020 Stockinbingal ANZAC Day Memorial Service to be held at 3.00pm on Saturday 25th April at King George V Park. School captains Noah and Jessy will present a report and poems on the day. Students are encouraged to attend and are to wear full school uniform.

Tuesday was the final session of our 6-week cricket coaching, made available through Sporting Schools funding. We hope to secure funding to run another sporting program next term, as they not only provide opportunities for students to try different sports, they develop vital fundamental movement skills. Thanks the Kelly and Will for

coming out to work with us each week. We will now ramp up our preparations for the Baldry Shield each Tuesday afternoon for sport. Technology Skills in Focus

Australia is a continent and an island. Actually, it’s the world’s biggest island but the world’s smallest continent! Australia is located in the South Pacific Ocean. Australia comprises of mainland Australia, the island of Tasmania

and numerous smaller islands.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, who have lived on the continent of Australia for over 60,000

years, have the oldest living culture in the world.
