Grade 1:

In Maths this week we have been comparing

numbers! Mr Crocodile has been helping us

decide which numbers are greater than and

which are less than. The students learnt that Mr. Crocodile

is a greedy crocodile and only likes to eat the ‘greater than’

number.

In our English Phonics classes, Ms. Beck King who works for

the UK Read Write Inc programme came into school to

demonstrate her expert skills in how the programme

should be taught.

In science we have been learning all about classifying animals. We also learnt

about animals which are vertebrates and invertebrates!

1L have sorted all the animals which have a backbone from those that don’t.

They then sorted those using Popsicle sticks for the backbone and pipe cleaners

for no backbone.

Science investigations were highly engaging and

students used all scientific skills to learn about

materials. This week’s investigations involved

changing the shapes of materials by applying

forces. The excitement for being involved in the

whole process was clearly visible. Students took

charge of their learning by conducting these

investigations.

In English we have been producing non-

chronological reports in the writer’s workshops.

Some of them worked as a team to produce

writing pieces. Working in groups allowed to

collaboration and team work. We then to

celebrated their success.

In Maths it was fun to watch the learners using

different manipulative sticks to understand the

concept of fractions.

In recent years, studies on gratitude among youth suggest that it

fosters more positive emotions and better attitude towards school.

In fact, the science of gratitude is now reaching a point where

researchers are no longer just defining gratitude and identifying its

benefits but determining the most effective ways to cultivate it.

During our moral education lessons through various activities, attitudes of

gratitude were cultivated among our students. This Gratitude Tree Activity is a

simple way to help them focus on what they are thankful for and to whom they

are thankful. After completing this activity, it was displayed by the students as

a centerpiece for all to enjoy.

CEO Clubs

In CEO clubs our artistic students in ICT Labs with the help

of computer and technological skills design, create and film

short animations. The club provides a platform to those who

wish to explore the world of animation. The club activities

involve development of 3D models.

Animation Club is for students who have an interest in

animation. The student’s meets up to watch/discuss cartoons,

collaboratively work on projects.
