Lovely early 1970’s Sheffield Allsport diving watch with Ronda movement

Lovely early 1970’s Sheffield Allsport diving watch with Ronda movement Allsport Sheffield diving watch with black dial with inscription “water resistant to 10 ATM – Shock resistant – T Swiss T M1. The watch has batons every five minutes and thin ones every minute. Three Arabic numerals are at 6, 9 and 12. The date is at 3 o’clock. The luminous are good on hands and batons. It is a screw back case in stainless steel with engraved inside “Sheffield Watch Inc.”. Like old pocket watch you have a cuvette between the movement and back case. Outside the back comes engraved “Stainless steel back – shock resistant – Swiss made – Water to 338 feet – Tested under water”. The watch has a manual winding Ronda movement with caliber RL 1215, 1/17 jewels, 21600 A/h and 38 hours of power reserve. The watch has a large diving band. The watch has been serviced.

The company was founded in New York in the 1950’s and was producing low price quality watches. The company started producing simple mechanical watches with European components then moved to produce quartz watches. In 1971 and 1972, the company and its subsidiaries filed for bankruptcy.
