“As a LDWF Enforcement Supervisor for the past 10 years, I have
seen a dramatic change in the attitude toward the enforcement of
litter violations. The change can be directly associated to a
combination of improved agent training, the creation of the annual
LDWF Meritorious Service Award for Litter Enforcement, and
increased litter overtime
compensation. Also, I have observed a
significant increase in the awareness
and prosecution of litter violations by
local judicial districts. The willingness
of district attorneys to prosecute litter
violators has contributed to changing
the culture in North Louisiana,”
— Capt. Rick Owens

“Over the last ten years, I have noticed an increase in litter
awareness among sportsmen and people who frequent the
outdoors. People now know agents respond to and investigate
litter complaints. They realize we are very aggressive when it
comes to investigating gross litter dump sites and enforcing litter
statutes. Agents notice people returning in their boats have their
trash bagged and are depositing it in trash bins.” –Capt. Robert
Buatt
