THE LOU-E LEDGER Join Lou-E in the New Year! Presents have been unwrapped and the ball has dropped. Christmas is done, the New Year has dawned and now your new Lou-E is now officially open for business; working for you. With the arrival of January, 2013 looms large ahead of us; filled with possibility, and the emergence of this new merged organization has the business community buzzing with expectation of what is to come. Over the past few months, the North East Louisville Business Association and the Lyndon Area Business Association have been working hard to bring “Lou-E” into existence. A great deal of time and effort has been put into building this new organization, and the result is a chamber that we can all be excited about. With quality programming and services, focused on enriching and unifying the East Louisville business community, the merging of LABA and NELBA will only enhance the impact that this chamber can have for you and your business. On December 6th, NELBA and LABA came together to give a glimpse of the high quality work the community can expect from “Lou-E,” as the exciting annual event known as the “Holiday Taste” was held. The community came out in the largest numbers ever, providing valuable exposure to all of the participating businesses and vendors. With great food, fun and a very jolly Santa Clause, the event was a real success, setting a new precedent for future events. Among all of the vendors and booths featured at the event, Lou-E had its own booth featuring a peak at the new logo for the merged organization. Members of the “Lou-E” board of directors and other volunteers were on hand at the booth to answer questions, talk about the future and promote membership, because with so much promise and excitement there has never been a better time to be, or become, a member. It’s not too late! “Lou-E” is always enrolling new members, but don’t wait! If you are still waiting to sign up as a new member, hurry and submit your membership before January 15th; the deadline for being included in the 2013 membership directory. Lou-E is borrowing the NELBA web site temporarily to enroll its members and to reserve your place for this month’s speaker luncheon. Click on www. nelba.com to join or renew! When the Lou-E website is complete, you will find new and exciting features to promote your business! Lou-E will have a fresh new INTER-ACTIVE Facebook Page- make sure you “LIKE” Lou-E on Facebook and we will work on promoting all businesses who “LOVE” Lou-E!! The Lou-E Membership Directory is one of the best ways to ensure that your name and business is easily accessible to members that may be potential customers. If you have questions about your membership, or how to take advantage of all our great services and offers, or if you just want to find a way to get involved contact [email protected] today. The New Year is here and the possibilities are endless. Keep an eye out for the launch of the new web site and Facebook page. Plus, make sure to mark your calendars for all of the exciting events coming up like our next luncheon, on January 17th, featuring Wayne Perkey. “Lou-E” will be looking for you this year, as we continue forward, on the move for business and community. The Lou-e Ledger

Join Lou-E in the New Year!

Logo Contest Winner! We are excited about our NEW Merger Lou-E LOGO! We shared it with our members and friends as a fun teaser in our last NELBA issue. We included a

portion of our new logo – a fleur de lis- within the text. The logo was hidden in a light fixture within a scrapbook photo! The winner of the drawing wins a FREE luncheon in January 2013! We are pleased to announce the winner of our drawing: Charlotte Buster!! Congratulations! And thanks for all those who submitted their entries.

The Lou-E Ledger, January - February 2013 3

This year’s Holiday Taste reflected a confidence in healthy growth and stability among our participating members. Local businesses enthusiastically displayed samples of their product and service to potential customers both at the business-to-business portion and the public event. Gourmet taste treats lured folks to try out the full menu at our nearby restaurant and caters’ in 2013. Congratulations to all our members for a successful marketing effort! You now have a jump on customers for the New Year!

The 14th annual Holiday Taste of East Louisville welcomed our community to our host, Westport Middle School. We thank Staci Eddleman, Principal, and her staff for making this event so successful. We reached almost 500 visitors this year. Television preview appearances and media coverage benefitted the participating NELBA businesses while bringing newcomers to the event. The LMPD 8th Division, the Lyndon Fire Department and Westport Middle School provided a public service booth display for the community.

Lou-E achieved a successful fundraiser for the Carriage House through its Silent Auction. Carriage House volunteers were instrumental in helping to promote the event. It was a great collaboration.

• The Grand Prize raffle ($300 gift cards from Norton Common Shops was awarded to Patrice Lux, a first time visitor whose daughter performed for our visitors in the School Chorus.

• Ballots were counted and Kroger’s Murray Cheese of NYC was voted this year’s “Best Booth” winner. McAlister’s and Moe’s were runners up! A certificate and FREE year of Lou-E membership will be awarded to Reid Coulston of Kroger’s for a great booth display of their new line of Murray’s Cheese of New York City. Congratulations!

• We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Lou-E Booth “Free Membership” drawing goes to Aubrey Lipscomb, Jr. Amack Cleaning and

Restoration, LLC. Welcome to LouE!
