The Lotus on Track Racing Drivers’ Club was launched at the end of 2006 in conjunction with MSVR – the racing club division of the UK’s largest circuit owner, Motor Sport Vision. Those first five seasons have seen the club grow at a rate unrivalled in UK club motorsport with four Lotus series now coming under the LoTRDC umbrella.

Until 2007 there were only a handful of Elises racing on the same grid: When the Lotus on Track Elise Trophy held its inaugural race at Brands Hatch in March of that year, it heralded the advent of full grids, huge support from the Lotus community and plenty of action at circuits across the UK and into Europe.

With the success of the Elise Trophy, the club was asked to take over the organisation of Lotus Cup Europe - the World’s only official Group Lotus owned race series - for the 2009 season. By the end of 2010 grids had more than trebled with drivers from across the continent racing at Europe’s premier circuits.

With Lotus Cup Europe grids at bursting point a new championship was launched at the start of 2011: Lotus Cup UK. The new championship achieved huge grids in its first season with an average of 40 cars starting each of the 9 championship races. Due to its success Lotus Cup UK will form two championships in 2012: Lotus Cup UK Production and Lotus Cup UK SuperSport. UK drivers will have the option to race in Lotus Cup Europe as well as in the UK based series, giving them the chance to race at some great European circuits in addition to the best of British.

Being run as a not-for-profit club, Lotus on Track Racing Drivers’ Club is reliant on the numerous volunteers who give up their own time to help run the events, police regulations, update the website and promote Lotus club racing. Such a strong group of Lotus enthusiasts helps to ensure all four series remain safe, friendly and financially viable for those wishing to race with one of the World’s most iconic motorsport marques.

The Lotus on Track Elise Trophy is widely regarded as one of the UK’s premier club racing series.

Featuring a single class system the emphasis is placed on ability, a fantastic calendar including prestigious support slots, huge grids and unrivalled patronage from the Lotus community.

Aiming to provide a safe and social environment for those wishing to move from trackdays into racing, the Elise Trophy has seen over 85 drivers race for the first time since its inception in 2007.

Race days see 20 minutes of qualifying plus 2 x 20 minute races, the second of which sees a reversal of the top ten from qualifying.

The LoTRDC hospitality area helps to ensure events are suitable for drivers’ family members and that there is a great social atmosphere.

Lotus Cup UK Production & SuperSportLotus racing gets serious

Launched in 2011: Lotus Cup UK is aimed at drivers who want all the benefits of a Championship in a fair, safe and social environment whilst driving arguably the most iconic of all British marques.

With 8 rounds at the best UK circuits and a visit to Zolder, there really is no better Championship in which to race your Lotus.

The five classes ensure that the vast majority of Lotus race cars can compete, from the Elise Trophy Production cars up to Exige Cups and 2 Elevens.

There are 6 one-hour and 2 ninety-minute endurance races with a pit stop enabling two drivers to share a car if required. Free Practice and qualifying are 20 minutes each. Races will be broadcast on Motors TV as part of a 1hr programme ‘Lotus on Track’.

Lotus Cup EuropeEurope’s finest coming together

Lotus Cup Europe is a race series designed to offer Lotus owners the opportunity to experience some of the best race circuits in Europe with like-minded enthusiasts.

It’s aimed at both experienced racers as well as those wishing to compete for the first time.

The Lotus Cup Europe Series, now in its 8th year, is the World’s only official Group Lotus race series and was set up as a direct response to customer and Lotus Dealer interest in a ‘fun’ but professionally run motorsport series in Europe. During that time it has attracted many competitors from all over Europe, a large number of whom have been new to car racing.

Race weekends see 20 minutes of free practice, 20 minutes qualifying and 20 and 30 minute races. Weekends are fully supported by Group Lotus both in terms of branding and technical policing. All you need to compete is a full driving license and a national race license from your European country’s motor sports authority.

Lotus Brands Hatch 6 HourInto the night

The Lotus 6 hour is aimed at all LoTRDC competitors as a spectacular end to the racing season.

After two hugely enjoyable and successful years of hosting a 1000KM Lotus race at Brands Hatch for 2012, we are moving to a 6hr format. The race starts on Saturday lunchtime and drivers are guaranteed maximum ‘dark’ driving time, as there’s 2hrs ‘dark’ qualifying on the Friday evening.

The race will be split into two classes: Elise Trophy, where teams can be made up of 1 or 2 cars, and Lotus Cup where single car teams are permitted. All teams can have up to 3 drivers.

The race offers a different kind of challenge to the sprint and short endurance races, as both teamwork and stamina is called for from both the driver and the car. Pit stops are as important as lap times, with fuel and tyre strategy coming to the fore. Evoking memories of classic Brands Hatch 1000KM & 6hr World Sports Car races, the winners will be following in the wheeltracks of Mario Andretti, Jacky Ickx, Derek Bell, Martin Brundle and Jonathan Palmer.
