Lord of the Flies Extra Credit Assignment Point Value: Worth up to 5% points toward final exam Deadline: First day of 2U class in Second Semester (no credit will be given for late submissions)

On a separate sheet of paper, write one of the following:

I. Lord of the Flies II Continue the story where it left off. Include dialogue from all the main characters. Be sure to explain what happens after they are rescued from the island. Where do they go next (remember that the atomic bomb has been dropped in England, so a return home might be difficult)? How do Ralph and Jack interact now that there are adults around? Does Roger regret anything he has done? Will any criminal charges be brought up against the boys for the deaths of Simon and Piggy? Use a minimum of 15 vocabulary words that we have learned since the beginning of the year. Points will be awarded based on content, grammar, creativity, and proper word usage.

II. Goddess of the Flies Give a brief retelling of Lord of the Flies, except with all female characters. How would the story be different with an island full of girls? Do Ralphina and Jackie have the same sort of rivalry as that described between Ralph and Jack? What becomes of Simona? Do the girls listen to Piggoletta any more than the boys had listened to Piggy? Use a minimum of 15 vocabulary words that we have learned since the beginning of the year. Points will be awarded based on content, grammar, creativity, and proper word usage.III. Those Were the Good Ol Days In the form of a screenplay or short story, write a dialogue between all the characters of Lord of the Flies at their 20-year reunion party at T.G.I. Fridays. Where does Ralph work these days? Is Jack a rich corporate raider? Is Roger married? Who on earth invited the ghost of Piggy to the party? If you write this in the form of a screenplay, which actors would you like to play the parts of these characters? Try to make it as interesting and humorous as possible. Use a minimum of 15 vocabulary words that we have learned since the beginning of the year. Points will be awarded based on content, grammar, creativity, and proper word usage.

Choose only one of the ideas above. Doing more than one of these is welcomed and encouraged, but unfortunately I can only give extra credit for one. In order to get the most points possible, I would recommend writing as much as you can and using the vocabulary words creatively and correctly. I would also like to remind you that 15 vocabulary words is the minimum here, so try to use as many as possible!
