    If you are a purpose-driven entrepreneur who is ready to get o the cash ow roller

    My name is Lorna Li and I am a digital nomad and and internet markeng mentor

    to visionary entrepreneurs who are on a mission to make an impact while living life

    What inspired me to create an online business was a life-changing experience deep

    in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon in 2004. I had been invited to parcipate in a

    tribal fesval in the Kaxinawá Indigenous Territory of Upper Jordão, in the state of

    Acre, Brazil. I’ve always been a spiritually-oriented person, and being able to spend

    me in yoga and meditaon retreats, or on pilgrimage is important to me.

    Unfortunately, most U.S. companies only give you two weeks of vacaon. Two weeks

    into a Vipassana meditaon retreat, I feel like I am just geng warmed up, just

    starng to unlock the treasures of my mind. The last thing I want to do aer 2 weeks

    of meditaon is to pack up my stu, get back on a plane and go back to work.

    At that me, I understood beyond a doubt that part of my soul’s purpose would be

    deeply entwined with the culture and the people of the Amazon. And that in order to

    truly live this purpose, I’d need to go back there oen.

    Now, when it comes to travelling in the Amazon, it’s going to take you 2 weeks to

    get anywhere. This is because elder shamans live deep in the forest, and geng to

    their village typically requires taking a twin propeller plane to the nearest outpost

    with a dirt landing strip and a mulple-day boat ride.

    Mind you, there is no transportaon in the tribal backcountry, so locang a boat

    operator, provisioning yourself with enough food,water and gasoline to make the

     journey up or downriver and back, plus addional supplies for the village, so that

    your visit is a net posive for them, and not a drain on their limited resources, that

    process alone might take days.

    dicult, especially with high-paid, high-caliber career-oriented posions.

    Employment gaps are red ags to many corporate employers, and corporate culture

    tends to be advancement-focused. If you want to be promoted, you need to put in

    at least a year of solid employment in your current role, with a documented track

    record of wins before you can feasibly ask for a promoon and raise, and get one.

    Low-end service jobs (as restaurant servers, bartenders, massage therapists, yoga

    instructors, deli sta, etc) are much more forgiving about long stretches of me o

    so long you can nd someone to cover your shi. But then put yourself in the make

    money at home so you can spend it all while you travel game. And while this canwork out just great in your 20s and 30s, keep this up, and you run the risk of being

    trapped in low-end service jobs in your 50s or 60s with lile savings.

    How to Travel While Increasing Your Income

    Now I’m a careerist. I like to be intellectually challenged, increase my skills and I

    want to be paid increasingly well as I uplevel my mastery. So the low-end job trapthing was simply not appealing to me. Neither did I want to be an English teacher in

    Brazil.

    And I wanted to have the freedom to spend 3, 6, 9 months or more in Brazil or

    elsewhere. Living and working with shamans and their tribe. Without sacricing my

    income. Ideally, while increasing my income. And my knowledge. This was what life

    would look like on my terms.

    I realized that the only way to solve this issue was to gure out how to make money

    online.

    An online business has the power to give you locaon freedom, and the ability to

    generate increasing leveraged, recurring revenue, as you uplevel your skills, and gain

    mastery of your cra... and become smarter in ways a low-level service job will

    never inspire.

    The easiest and fastest way to get earn money online is to get paid for your

    experse. Seng up a virtual coaching or consulng business is as easy as creang a

    single web page with a Paypal buon.

    Unfortunately, while it’s easy to start your business that way, building your business

    so that your online presence aracts a steady stream of qualied visitors who turn

    into retainer-based clients takes more work. But the payo is well worth it.

    The freedom to change countries or travel on a whim. The freedom to own your

     Your Soul Tribe - The True Key to Freedom

    There is a vast array of soware, gadgets and tools that will help you run your

    business from anywhere in the world. But the one thing that is the true freedom

    gamechanger is having your soul-aligned tribe of fans, prospects and clients join

    your email list.

    Having a soul tribe gives you:

      • The freedom to run your business from anywhere in the world  • Freedom from worry and anxiety over not knowing when your next

    client is going to appear

      • Freedom from the stressful cycles of feast or famine that plagues so

    many experts, consultants, coaches, and service providers

    Now, the big problem I see with so many experts is not taking the me to build their

    tribe - and when I say tribe, I really want to emphasize those people who join your

    email list. Not your Facebook friends, LinkedIn network or Twier followers. Your

    email list of people who specically voted to stay connected with you, because they

    love who you are, and what you do.

    Why aren’t your social media friends your tribe?

    Well they could be, but I like to think of my social media community more as my

    “reach”.

    This is because while people won’t receive my news and updates in the same way as

    social network actually see your update.

    Think about it. The person needs to be in front of a device - their desktop, laptop, ormobile phone - at the moment you make an update. If you get a lot of social

    engagement on your post, your update may hang out in the news feed a lot longer.

    But that tends to happen for inspiring photos, cute cat pictures, controversial posts

    about polics or gender, not for promoonal posts about your business. So you

    might have a huge social network, and very few people who see your updates.

    Also the algorithms of some of these plaorms - in parcular - Facebook - is

    oriented to get you to spend money on adversing. Which is why fewer of your

    Facebook fans actually see a Facebook fanpage update, than a personal prole

    update. Because aer spending all this eort to build up your fanbase, you are now

    faced with the need to run paid adversing campaigns if you hope to get an ROI for

    your eorts. Smart on Facebook, frustrang for Facebook fanpage creators.

    While engagement on your posts might feel like you are “making progress”, unless

    you are geng those people who are liking, commenng and sharing your post toactually get on your email list, engagement is actually not a value-driving

    acvity. In other words, spending a lot of me geng engagement on your updates

    is a me-sucking, unprotable acvity.

    Now if you intend to run paid adversing campaigns to your Facebook fanbase,

    then engagement can be useful, because it will increase your social reach, which can

    aract more Likes, which will improve your Facebook demographic targeng and

    audience reach.

    strategy with paid adversing being the engine that drives email list growth and

    that you may not want to talk to, who you may not even remember in the hopes

    that somebody will actually hire you or refer your business. So you no longer have

    to do that if you have a tribe of ideal fans, prospects and clients. And then you also

    don’t need to host local workshops in order to aract new clients because again you

    can send an email and invite members of your tribe to parcipate in an online

    workshop, for example.

    So for those of you who love to travel, you may nd that it is really hard to nd local

    business if you are in a country where you don’t really speak the local language, or

    The Power of Geo-Arbitrage

    Geo-arbitrage is the pracce of earning income in a wealthier part of the

    world, with a stronger currency like US Dollars, Canadian, Deutschmarks,

    Euros, and Brish Pounds, and living a high-end lifestyle in another part of

    the world where the currency is weaker, like Mexico, Indonesia, Thailand,

    Argenna, Croaa, Slovenia, Brazil, and Spain. There are many countries in

    Western Europe where the cost of living is signicantly lower than

    high-priced cies in the United States, like San Francisco, or New York. The

    dollar goes further, you can live a great life, eat well and enjoy wonderful

    In Thailand, my luxury condo with bimonthly cleaning service, cost $700 a

    month. Scooter rental, gym membership, delicious Thai food out, 3 meals a

    day ($2-$5 a mouthwatering dish), weekly 2-3 hour massage and spa

    treatments brought my living expenses up to $1500 / month. I could take

    cheap, inter-Asia ights to visit other countries in Southeast Asia, or other

    islands in Thailand, and enjoy a week at a white sand beach hotel. I actually

    lived on the island paradise of Koh Phangan, where my oceanfront bungalow

    cost me $500 a month to rent.

    Even if you decide that the digital nomadic lifestyle is not for you, imagine

    enjoying 1 month in Hawaii or Spain, because you can. Even though there are

    mes when I do work a lot, especially before a launch, I would not give up the

    freedom to change countries or choose how to spend my me, or whom to

    spend it with for the security of a job.

    One thing that I do know, beyond a doubt, is that if I decided not to grow my

    business anymore, or if I was ever worried about not having enough money to

    rere in the United States, I’d much rather live out the rest of my life in Bali,

    than get a job in my 50s or 60s!

    3. Your Tribe Enables You To Sell Products and Programs Before

     You’ve Actually Created Them

    One of the tangible benets to having a tribe is that it can give you crystal-clear

    clarity over what to sell. I see many experts struggle and agonize over what

    products, programs or services to oer. Chances are there are many dierent ways

    in which you can support your ideal clients in overcoming the problem that they are

    struggling with and achieving the transformaon that they deeply desire. So picking

    one thing to start with can be a challenge!

    When you have an audience, you can engage your audience and discover what it is

    that they would most like your help with solving. This is as simple as sending out a

    survey, a survey that has a list of the top 5 ways you feel inspired to help your

    audience. This way, you can let your audience vote in terms of which soluon they

    feel is the most important to them now. This will give you really valuable feedback

    in terms of the kind the content to oer in your free newsleer and in your

    complimentary trainings. And even beer, when you have a tribe, you can also

    pre-sell your programs before you even create them.

    How does this work? Let’s say you received your survey result back from your tribe

    You make an outline of the program, then email your list and say, “Hey, I am in-

    spired to create an online course about vibraonal healing with ower essences. I’m

    going to create this program if 10 people buy it. As VIP members of my tribe, you

    get to buy the program at a great early bird price. If fewer than ten people buy this

    program, the I will refund everybody’s money back”.

    Pre-selling programs BEFORE they are created is a powerful way of doing market

    research, because it shows how many people in your tribe are actually willing to

    invest. One of the things to be aware of is that people answer surveys and respondwith their wallets in very dierent ways. Pre-selling your program will allow you

    decide how many customers you need to have in order for it to be worth your me

    to create this program. So many experts spend weeks and months creang programs

    before they even have an audience and email list to sell their program to. Once they

    are done, they might have a beauful product, yet they sll have no customers.

    Creang an audience rst, then selling to that audience is a more ecient way to

    roll out an online program.

    Another big mistake that I see so many expert entrepreneurs make is creang

    programs in a vacuum. They THINK they know what the market wants and they

    spent a lot of me creang that soluon, creang that product.

    Maybe they asked their friends and family, “What would you do if you had this

    problem? I’m thinking about creang this online course. If you had this problem,

    would you buy it.” Most friends and family, because they want to be supporve, willsay, “Yes! What a great idea!” This is a terrible way to validate a product that can

    take weeks and months to create.

    Maybe they asked the people in their co-working space or at a local meet-up relatedto their industry. But the way that those people answer is not the same as geng

    that feedback from your own tribe. And so what I see happen to lots of

    entrepreneurs is that they get this all this informaon from random people, and then

    they build something they THINK the market wants and needs. They spent all their

    me creang that product and when the product in done, they sll do not have an

    audience that they can sell the product to, and they don’t even know if really what

    the market is willing to pay for.

    4. Your Tribe Gives You The Ability to Make Money While You Sleep

    One of the biggest promises of Internet markeng is that you can “make money

    while you sleep. Now many entrepreneurs who are fairly new to the Internet

    markeng game, think that all it takes to make money while you sleep is to create a

    product and put it on your website. So they spend weeks or months creang theirproduct, they put up a sales page with a buy buon, then nothing… crickets.

    That’s because most website owners simply don’t get enough qualied trac to

    their site on a day to day, or month to month basis. Not everyone that lands on your

    website is a qualied prospect, or ready to buy. If your online course or program is

    several hundred or several thousand dollars, the likelihood that a person will

    stumble upon your website and invest in, say, your a $2000 program, decreases

    with the price point.

    The way most program creators sell their $500-$2000 programs is through

     joint-venture launches, where the window to purchase the program is open for afew days only, before the cart closes and the program begins. The urgency created

    by the me-sensive enrollment period also helps to sell a program that’s a several

    thousand dollar investment. Many of these group programs have specic start and

    end dates, much like semesters at a university.

    Now, if you have your own email list, you can do internal launches to your own list.

    co-workers know you as a the subject maer expert in whatever role you occupy.

    Your industry colleagues know you and relate to you by your job with the company.

    If you leave your company to work for yourself, it’s almost as if you become

    “nobody.” Unless you become a consultant and sell the same knowledge and

    experse back to your former employer or oer your services to the companies

    your former industry colleagues work for. Even if you did try to do this, your

    industry relaonships might change. Many companies, especially big corporaons,

    have their preferred vendors. So it may not be easy to switch from Social Media

    Director of your former employer, to the agency or independent consultant that

    provides those same services to that same company, or to the organizaons that

    employ your industry colleagues.

    It can be even more dicult if you leave a corporate job and decide to pursue your

    dream career of being a relaonship coach, or a health and tness coach. Unless

    you’ve been building up your coaching business as a side-hustle business for years

    before cung the corporate umbilical cord, you essenally enter this new eld as a

    “nobody”, in spite of all your knowledge.

    But this can all change very quickly, with the right strategies in place. It’s possible

    There are so many dierent email list-building strategies to choose from that will

    help you build your tribe. I’ve tried nearly all of them, and have concluded it reallyboils down to determining which method is right for you. There are slow methods,

    where tribe members join your email list in a slow, steady organic trickle. And there

    are faster methods, which may be controlled by how much adversing budget you

    allocate, and where you adverse. Here’s my list of some of the top ways to build

    your email list, from fast to slow:

      • Hosng a virtual summit

      • Implemenng a paid adversing funnel using Facebook or Google Ad

    words

      • Guest-blogging on high-trac authority websites in your niche

      • Speaking at a conference in front of hundreds

      • Webinar exchanges

      • Video-blogging on YouTube

      • SEO-blogging on your own website

      • Hosng a live workshop or event

      • Networking at a meetup or industry event

    Once people have joined your email list, then you implement a process of

    connecng with your audience and providing value - informaon that will help solve

    their most urgent problems. Once you have this system in place, you can automate

    a lot of it. Since the Internet never sleeps - morning in San Francisco is night mesomewhere else - you can eecvely aract ideal fans, prospects and clients 24/7.

    One of the big issues I see with many online entrepreneurs is NOT seng up a

    complete system, but focusing all your aenon on one part of the system. And this

    comes from not knowing what the enre system needs to look like in order to

    funcon properly. I was guilty of this myself.

    For years I was a blogger. I wrote hundreds of blog posts. But I didn’t have a

    newsleer signup box on my blog for nearly 2 years. I wrote search engine

    opmized content, so I got visitors from Google and Yahoo (back then), but even if

    they wanted to stay in touch with me, they couldn’t. There was no way to sign up

    for my newsleer.

    If there’s one thing I regret in my entrepreneurial journey is not geng that opn

    box up sooner! Who knows how many hundreds or thousands of people would bein my tribe sooner, who I could help, who would’ve been overjoyed to pay for my

    support!
