Sport Management Program Mission Statement

Sport Management majors at Loras College are exposed to a rigorous curriculum that satisfies Commission on Sport Management Accreditation standards in an environment that fosters the college’s four dispositions and Catholic identity and respect for human dignity. Students, led through interaction with program faculty and practical opportunities including a pre-professional field experience, develop their ethical-decision making, reflective thinking, and written and oral communication skills as they prepare for graduate studies, professional opportunities and their personal lives.

• Themajorincorporatesallfourdispositionsofthecollege.Studentsareexpectedtobeactivelearners,reflectivethinkers,ethicaldecisionmakersandresponsiblecontributors.

Professional Experience and Alumni Employment

TheLorasCollegeSportManagementprogrampreparesyouforamyriadofcareers.Recentalumshavesecuredemploymentindifferentorganizationswithinthesportindustry,including the following:

• UnitedStatesAnti-DopingAgency• ChicagoFireProfessionalSoccerTeam• NationalSoccerCoachesAssociationofAmerica• IowaSportsFoundation• SpecialOlympicsWisconsin• SpaceCoastStadiumSpringTrainingFacility

Students complete a full semester internship as part of their curriculum. Examples of past experiences include the following:

National Recognition

Thesportmanagementprogramnetworkswithsportsbusinessprofessionalsacrossthenationthrough regional and national conferences, and through course-related academic trips to regional metropolitan areas.
